    It can make 3d object look almost 2d because you can't distinguish any inner shadows. That was the coolest substance in the video by far IMO.

    It's actually a fairly big deal. It sucks in so much light you can't determine any depth or shape to an object. If he was holding up ball or a sphere covered in that stuff you still wouldn't be able to tell it was three-dimensional. You'd think he was holding up, well, a black circle of cardboard or something. That's what makes it special.
