Trump hosts an event honoring the Native American Code Talkers

Respect to any veterans out there from any country who are willing to give up their lives to protect their country.

Nice. They where very important for winning the War against Japan. There is a good movie based on one of them about the actual events which took place. " Windtalkers." Starring Nicolas Cage. Good to see the President recognizing their very important role in WW2.

I am sorry what native Americans? All I could hear from our president was Pocahontas and how great his tax cuts are going to be you know because he couldn't talk about it any other time /facepalm.

I might watch this later, but I really, really hope he stayed on the script that somebody else wrote for him.

Read the title of the tread and you would know. And if you did not dislike Trump so much, you may have heard him honor them.

The Japanese would intercept our radio messages and thus adjust their plans and counter measures based on them. Because the Navajo have such a unique and difficult language to learn, they could not break their code. The Army used several of them to be code talkers ( Windtalkers ) to transmit orders and battle plans. There may be parts I am leaving out, but that is the jest of it.

Which that word is not a racial slur to them. She is a fake anyway. Which they recognize.

Gotta love how an event honoring Native Americans is held right in front of a portrait of Andrew Jackson.

"A very good movie" ranked as one of the top 10 most inaccurate military movies of all time. Not to mention one where the actual Navajo characters are only there to support Cage's shittily acted PTSD sergeant.

I love how Trump turns this entire spectacle into jabbing Elizabeth Warren over the conflicting claims to the director of the credit bureau.

I get it, he honored some Native Americans and that's great. How about honoring them by not raping more of their lands for a pipeline? How about instead of smoke and mirrors with this staged show, we get Trump following through on policy that is for Americans, Native and otherwise.

Until that moment, this jerkoff session with veterans he considers peers because of his current office is nothing more than a charade to distract from the more viscous scandals and investigations currently plaguing his entire presidency. No level of uplifting from his allies or mocking from his enemies can change that sad fact.

*Blinks* So you're doubting someones Native American ancestry because you can? And you think that's justified because other Native Americans think it?

Man, Trump is a real damn Nazi under that logic, then.
There is absolutely no basis for individual rights to firearms or self defense under any contextual interpretation of the second amendment of the United States Constitution. It defines clearly a militia of which is regulated of the people and arms, for the expressed purpose of protection of the free state. Unwillingness to take in even the most basic and whole context of these laws is exactly the road to anarchy.

    They are Navajo Code Talkers.

It's a wonderful bid of irony lost on nobody who actually cares, which is nobody in the executive office.

Yeah, I've watched that and it's cheesy. Special effects were unconvincing and the use of stock footage blatant.

The irony is that America behaves pretty much the same nowadays. Native Americans weren't perceived as Americans or US citizens at the time, so deals were routinely broken and civilians weren't seen as deserving of protections from war crimes.

I'm sure if you thought for a moment or two you could come up with a few classes of people that the president has no problem breaking deals with and looking the other way when they get raped and slaughtered.

So yeah, the irony is that by ranting and railing against the past, they blind themselves to the present.

Oh wow! Your post dismissing a group on what is a slur is wrong. Not surprised.

I wish they'd make a proper movie in their name, rather than the shit starring Nic Cage...

...the present in which the president of the United States refers to them as "Pocahontas?"

Though, to give Trump some credit, I was fully expecting him to bust out "the red man" somewhere in there.

At this point this dipshit could personally give CPR to a pediatric AIDS patient, and pledging 1 billion dollars, and I would still not think any better of him and still be pretty sure it was a stupid PR stunt.

And if you weren't so far up his ass you would critique him for not staying on script.
