    Why Are Americans not Revolting?

Income inequality in the U.S. is the highest among all developed nations. With the federal minimum wage being only $7.25 per hour, people are living in modern slavery just making enough money to barely survive. The republicans in the senate just voted to give an express lane that is going to make inequality far worse.

How long can this go on without some kind of major revolution?

I think the question should be, why are Americans not taking responsibility for their own fuck ups.

Most people that work minimum wage jobs do so because they never bothered to gain any useful life skills growing up and now work minimum wage and blame everyone else for it.

The "progressive" movement in America these days is nothing but lazy irresponsible idiots wanting handouts because they failed at life.

This is also the reason a revolution wouldn't work, because no one with any real sense or motivation would waste their time.

Yeah man, why don't we just share the wealth? Communism ALWAYS works and has never failed! Just give all your money to poor people so they can waste it all on cigarettes and booze, whoops forgot to feed my children again this month!

The federal government isn't there to babysit you through life. You get what you work for, so if you put no effort forth and have no skills, of course you're not going to make any money.

To me this argument never made sens. Say our entire population had PhD's in physics, minimum wage workers would still have to exist because not everyone can be a physics PhD scientific researcher. Society needs mailmen, store clerks, manual laborers, etc. If society needs low level workers as well as high level workers, then why don't we give low lever workers fair pay? They perform a task that society needs.

The american people are lemmings and sheeple. they're not interested in what's best for them just what's best for their prejudices. they worship a military and govt that continually attacks people around the world suppressing them all while screaming "freedom, freedom". As if a barefoot guy in some 3rd world country is a threat to them. They worship guns and killing.

How can a people like that care about the people who don't make as much as them? They want to defend their status quo while mortgaging the future. How else can you explain the highest college costs in the world.

And yet they voted for a big lie businessman who got their with help from a foreign power. they voted for him because he played to their prejudices and desires. The sheeple scream about foreign invaders, the sharia, immigrant criminals while loving an immigrant first lady who got a fast track back door green card because of power and money. And probably a good blow job.

    hypocrites and fools.

All you need to get their vote is to scream something stupid like "you'll get my guns from my cold dead hands" or "these colors don't run" or something similarly childish and inane.

they deserve what's coming. Hope i can get out before the implosion and race war.

Oh you mean like most of the South and flyover states who bitch and complain that America "forgot" about them. You got to love those coal miners who have had states and the Federal Government pump money into training programs to help them find new work. All the while they throw it back in their faces saying they will wait for Trump to open more coal mines. How about the Red states are the poorest welfare states in the U.S. with many of them in the red and only staying afloat because of Federal Government funding. All the while those "lazy progressive" states are actually pumping most of the money into the U.S. but ya keep blaming liberals and progressives as lazy. Not the dumb as fuck rascal driving Southerners and Mid-westerners.

And you can still pay them a higher minimum wage. It won't kill us just make us better.

Because "income inequality" doesn't mean a thing if the standard of living of the 'have-nots' is high enough that there's not a perceived threat to their lives... which excludes about 99% of the population from any sort of revolt.

80 percent of poor households have air conditioning. In 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.
92 percent of poor households have a microwave.
Nearly three-fourths have a car or truck, and 31 percent have two or more cars or trucks.
Nearly two-thirds have cable or satellite TV.
Two-thirds have at least one DVD player, and 70 percent have a VCR.
Half have a personal computer, and one in seven have two or more computers.
More than half of poor families with children have a video game system, such as an Xbox or PlayStation.
    43 percent have Internet access.
One-third have a wide-screen plasma or LCD TV.
One-fourth have a digital video recorder system, such as a TiVo.

96 percent of poor parents stated that their children were never hungry at any time during the year because they could not afford food.
83 percent of poor families reported having enough food to eat.
82 percent of poor adults reported never being hungry at any time in the prior year due to lack of money for food.
Other government surveys show that the average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children and is well above recommended norms in most cases.

Television newscasts about poverty in America generally portray the poor as homeless people or as a destitute family living in an overcrowded, dilapidated trailer. In fact, however:

Over the course of a year, 4 percent of poor persons become temporarily homeless.
Only 9.5 percent of the poor live in mobile homes or trailers, 49.5 percent live in separate single-family houses or townhouses, and 40 percent live in apartments.
42 percent of poor households actually own their own homes.
Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.
The average poor American has more living space than the typical non-poor person in Sweden, France, or the United Kingdom.
The vast majority of the homes or apartments of the poor are in good repair.

The poor pretty much have everything the rich do, it's just not as lavish or new.

If you don't like America, you can leave at any time OP. We are not revolting due to the fact that there is nothing life threatening to revolt against. As far as wealth inequality, you have the option to better yourself and learn how to make more money. Just because you choose not to is nobody's fault but your own.

I don't believe revolution is viable - primarily because Americans still generally have it pretty good no matter what anyone ignorant of truly terrible countries says - but I can't help but point out that you DO still generally need a % of the people in the populace to do the shit jobs like flip burgers and make coffee - because people like burgers and drink coffee. Once you accept that fact that SOMEONE has to be doing those things and that if EVERYONE was educated people would be forced into those positions regardless, it doesn't become unreasonable to ask that those positions pay AT THE MINIMUM enough to survive on. Similarly, you can't reasonably expect people to find the time to learn a skill or go to school when they have to work 12 hours a day just to make ends meet. Because you still have to get roughly 8 hours of sleep, account for travel time, and do things everyone does in their free time like bathe, cook, clean, and just generally be a person who doesn't live in their own filth and ineptitude at all hours of the day.

If you look at it that way its not really unfair to ask for enough to be able to get by on a 40 hour week. Not 'buy a lamborghini' amounts of money. Just 'not have to worry about living on stale bread and dumpster diving to survive' money.

I mean come on - the insinuation that everyone working a shitty job is some blatant idiot incompetent who doesn't deserve anything better than borderline slave labour is kind of... draconian?

It's part of the american culture. Every man is the artisan of his own future.

Which is both a good and bad thing, in my opinion.

On the one hand, it ignores that a ton of people are in bad situations because of reasons outside of their influence (sickness, poor upbringing etc.).

On the other hand, I really like that there is little stigma when it comes to failing at your business. It didn't work out? Well sucks, but here is your chance to start something new.

Inequality has no effect on property crime but a strong and robust impact on violent crime.

    It means quite a lot.

You are right, capitalism has provided the poor with all the material things they need, but they are looked down upon and disrespected as scum in their own society despite being hard workers. That's pretty fucked up. What use are all the material things if your social status is still bottom of the barrel?

This is what i mean about the american people. nothng to revolt against. The highest medical costs, the worst education, the most expensive education, a monolithic military, a police monitoring state (with full support of the sheeple), a corrupt buy your influence government, a climate denying government, a fear inducing fear inspiring government, the fuckin patriot act and god knows what else. Yet we have patriots such as flatspriest here who god forbid you open a thread about poor conditions in the good old USA jump down your throat with the comical and childish "if you don't like it leave" retort. lol.

Do you know how much it costs to better yourself these days? or do you believe anybody can just go to school free? Is there a position for everybody to move up to? These better yourself comments are non sensical and simply deny any argument. As if people aren't trying to better themselves or don't have some kind of problem or circumstance that doesn't hamper their ability to better themselves.

    sheeple.

The republicans in the senate are there because people VOTED FOR THEM.

And people keep voting on them, meaning they support their actions.

In democracy, even if 49% is unhappy, they need to suck it up. Any attempt of "revolution" would only mean being striken back with overwhelming strength. Countless casualties. Nothing gained.
