This is also the reason a revolution wouldn't work, because no one with any real sense or motivation would waste their time.

Over the course of a year, 4 percent of poor persons become temporarily homeless.
Only 9.5 percent of the poor live in mobile homes or trailers, 49.5 percent live in separate single-family houses or townhouses, and 40 percent live in apartments.

Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.
The average poor American has more living space than the typical non-poor person in Sweden, France, or the United Kingdom.
The vast majority of the homes or apartments of the poor are in good repair.

You didn't get sick when you were studying or experience half a dozen other problems which could have interfered with your career development.

From reading your post you are one of those people who can't envisage circumstances being different to your life experience. Which means you lack basic empathy and social skills, an understanding of probability theory or statistics in general, are dogmatic, lack creativity and probably a really awful employee doomed to a very mediocre existence. Congratulations on finding employment because you must have searched really hard to find an employer desperate enough to take you.

(Btw Just a guess but did one of Daddy's friends give you a job? That seems to be surprisingly common with your sort.)

Because the middle class is too busy labeling those at the bottom as "lazy fuck-ups not taking charge of their own fortune"?

They'll wake up and smell the bacon at some point. Not sure when, considering their Capitalist-worship.

Not everyone has the aptitude or time for that college and you don't need to finish college to make a decent living. Why anyone would support gambling with a loan to get out of poverty I will never understand. We have alternatives like community college, vocational schools. and apprenticeships. We need to stop this push for an expensive 4 year college or bust.

I love how they didn't compare housing to 1970 but technology was a ok even though it just get cheaper to produce. Inb4 why is income higher than because of population/inflation.

Do you have proof of this claim because every study I've seen says the opposite.

My Daddy died when I was 13 of the heart attack and my mommy was 55 years old housewife who depended on daddy, because he was the breadwinner and not that much of a breadwinner to be honest.

I paid for my education myself, I worked 6 days a week shifts AND studied at the same time because I had no "daddy" to shower me with $$ while I fuck girls and drink beer/smoke weed every 3 days like some luckier peers did. I failed quite a few courses which extended my studies by a year and a bit, because I fucking dare you to work 6 days a week AND keep up with evening studies without failing and repeating some courses.

How long can this go on without some kind of major revolution?
It's a good question, one that is a bit early. Right now the U.S. is working to reverse the thing we were apparently tricked into electing (although most of us saw it coming and tried to warn others - to no avail). It was shocking to see that entire mind-set roll into the white house, and it will take literally decades to fully heal - if we do at all.

The United States has a LOT still going for it. A legal system that will hopefully remove the stain that is currently occupying the white house, and hopefully root out a lot of the other evil that has taken root. We still have a robust economy and are the greatest military might in the world. We have private leaders who are taking us down amazing roads of development while universities continue to push the threshold of new discovery.

The income inequality issue is extremely disconcerting. We have 1%'ers making 3x-15x what they were a decade ago and regular wages are stagnant, at best. We have several western countries to copy and create better overall policies, but we are stuck with several backward states that are caught in feedback loops of lies and misconceptions. Because of this, the same people continue to populate our legislative branches, continuing the downward trend/spiral.

Coupled with poor education policies and a continued underfunding of most k-12 schools, the future is bleak. Those that see what is happening are stymied by others who can spin anything to look "good", and keep their mindless voters punching the tickets, to their own detriment. We have a political party who is essentially owned by big business, and have just now gotten passed a tax plan that essentially fucks the entire nation, save those that paid for those politicians to get elected.

What will the future bring? Who knows? I see a Handmaid's Tale developing within the mindset of the United States. I also see people fighting back against tyranny and fascism, creating a more open mind and intolerance of evil. Are we at the brink of a revolution - no. Not even close. In fact, most signs point towards the tension backing down and a restoration of normalcy and order coming soon.

We will have to wait and see. I can say, that for me, the biggest issue will be if Trump remains in office past 2020. If he makes it through eight years I think we will be in very, very big trouble, with a revolution brewing at that point.

So why aren't we revolting? Because there is still much to hope for.

There's a far cry between Stalinist communism and democratic socialism, but then, conservatives have never been good at nuance.
You can bring about democratic socialism via revolt?

Because one of the "nuances" you're describing is exactly that. One of the two things you list come about via revolt, which falls under what Tony described here.

I don't support a revolt. I support progressive movements, but I don't support violence. I never said I supported violence. All I said in this thread on revolt was that violent action would go nowhere.
