    Il'gynoth Overtuned for Small Raids?

Hey, made an account on this site to try and get some feedback and maybe some advice with something.
Since Nightmare came out, my guild has been progressing through the new raid (on normal mind you, we're not the beast geared etc yet and wanted to clear norm before diving into heroic) with relatively smooth pace. We have beaten every boss so far except Il'gynoth, and I was wondering if anyone else in our situation was struggling for the same reasons?
The raid team of our guild is rather small (only around 15 people) as we are new to raiding as a guild in Legion. And we feel like -compared to the other bosses at least- Il'gynoth is massively overtuned for smaller raids? We don't have so much trouble with the first phase of the fight, but once we exit the tree for the first time, we just get absolutely swarmed and cannot keep up with the rate that the adds spawn after this point of the fight.
Anyone else or any other guilds having a similar problem to us? It is quite disheartening that we did so well on the other fights then seem to just hit a wall with this god damn eyeball.

Any response will be appreciated, thanks alot guys

15 people should be more than doable unless you have only melee.

We did it with 11, on second try a bit sloppily of course cause too many melee. 2/2/7, 5 melee 2 ranged.

I can only assume you arent spreading your DPS properly or they arent reacting fast enough/DPSing enough.

with 11, we had him at 10% first phase with Bloodlust, had 2 people die the moment the eyeball opened, and killed it the second try, but things were -sloppy- cause only 2 ranged and 5 melee.

With 5 melee we had too much raid damage going on while trying to clear the blobs.

We cleared normal in about 2 hours and 20mins including that messy fight.

Its one of those fights where more people make it easier, but you can still easily do it, just kite the blobs a bit till your other DPS finish off the targets tbh.

Sounds like you might be right, seems like your group has like twice as much dps as ours hahah. Thanks for the advice!

Also, out of curiosity, what would you say is the average item level of your raid?
    Sorry for the bump.

If you cannot kill the heart in one phase and are having trouble keeping second add phase under control you can save lust to burn the two dominator tentacles at the start of the second add phase to give you some breathing room. This is given you can do more than half of the heart's health in the first heart phase without lust, which is more than doable. If you cannot, you are going to have trouble regardless.

Makes sense. Saw that tactic for saving lust for outside of the heart room on the new Fatboss video, will have to give that a try next week. Hope our dps can keep up for it hahah, thanks!

Depends on the group. We probably got the heart to about 60%+ at best on all our tries, and the second round of adds was simply too much to keep control of, though we admittedly didn't have a ton of attempts on it (4 or 5?).

I'd imagine that any group killing the heart in 1 phase is just wasting their time in normals in the first place.
