    Guild Wars Lore

I’ve played a little GW1 but not enough to immerse myself into the lore but as I fully intend to play GW2 until my eyes bleed, I was hoping to read through the lore while patiently waiting for the game to be released. Is there a good source out there where I could find all the available lore for both GW1 and GW2? I’ve searched and found snippets of it in a dozen places but I’d really like to find a site or books that detail the entire back-story.
Appreciate any help you can give me on this, thanks in advance!

You can always buy "Ghosts of Ascalon" or "Edge of Destiny".

Or try Guild Wars Wiki. They have really good stuff

Use the wiki for GW1 lore.

And read the novels for the lore 250 years between GW1 and 2 to get an idea of what's going on in the world.

There's actually some pretty cool shit goin on in Guild Wars 1. Way more interesting than all the WoW Mary Sue's.

Well here's hoping I get the chance to go to Chapters right after leaving the office today, there is one lone copy of each book in stock! Yes I still prefer the paperbacks when traveling!

Also in case lore fans weren't aware, during my search for the books i discovered a new book title "Guild Wars Sea of Sorrow" written by Ree Soesbee to be published June 26th 2012.

they announced it at PAX and its about zhaitan rising and wiping out LA
and the launch title is supposed to have zhaitan as the final boss if you will

YETANOTHEREDIT: as far as the "guild wars" go it isnt very relevant except for the reasoning for the exodus to kryta and adleburn's reluctance to go with rurik

Definitely read the novels! I loved them, and it gave me a lot of insight on what GW2 will be like. It touches back on older lore that will still be relevant in GW2, and it was a really good read. It definitely got me excited for getting into the game's lore when it launches.

Can highly recommend Ghosts of Ascalon. Damn, that was a good read.

Edge of Destiny was good as well, but Ghosts of Ascalon was my favorite out of those two by far.

Oh yes, it was really nice getting to know all of the main characters in Edge of Destiny, and the ending was really awesome as well.
But still, Ghosts of Ascalon had something that Edge of Destiny lacked. And in terms of lore I felt that Ghosts of Ascalon offered more facts.

ghosts felt more like an adventure and a story, edge seemed like it wanted only to set up for GW2

I love the King Adelbern / Ghosts of Ascalon story (I should read the book lol)
The whole refusing to surrender and turning his people into ghosts to fight for all eternity is a damn cool story concept.

Read it for sure! I really didn't know anything at all about the whole Ascalon thing before, but I can really appreciate that part of the lore now. It's definitely the better of the two books.

Well I got hooked on Ghost of Ascalon after the one free paragraph. I managed to get both books and I'm flying to Brazil for business so they're going to get me through the 22 hours of travel time!

I'm not a fan of the books but they are decent to get a feel of the world I suppose. The GW wiki is the best bet for lore.

Yeah I was just kidding, I'm pretty sure the sea of sorrows is just the bay between Lion's Arch and Orr, not much room to fit an expansion in there... ZOMG DLC INSTEAD!!
