They will have grouped puzzles and world puzzles / discovery for implied solo content as well.

Space combat will be nice alternate mini games. Eventually some mini games like Pazaak (card casino) and other stuff besides raiding (Swoop racing?)

    Well.

I'm not so down about Warcraft now.

Loved Star Wars a long time, suppose I should thank Blizzard for the opportunity to move on.

i am seeing LOTS of TOR in the new WoW expac

OK so I was willing to let WoW go the way of the fallen king and honor my time with it but no I am slightly miffed.

In this MoP expac I am seeing alot of things that TOR will have in it. Weather TOR took it from WoW or vice versa I see this as a sad attempt to keep subs from dropping too much.

for starters the "specialization" option now. Classes now choose a "specialization" at lvl 10 and then choose talents from there, (TOR AC here)

I was looking at my hunter class talents for the expac and i see this
    http://media.mmo-champion.com/images...nter_tier1.jpg (think trooper ammo cells)

If i look harder i am sure to find more

    and SERIOUSLY THIS REALLLY!!!!!!!!

GUARANTEED BETA INVS for these people
TELL me this aint from reading all the no beta cuz i ordered CE rants

COME ON really Blizz i have much LOVE and RESPECT for you but you just lost TONS of it with this expac. I will give them the Panda thing since everybody been screaming it since Kung FU Panda

I am POSITIVE there are blizz rats in the TOR open beta since it started and now i am CERTAIN that there are.

well my rant is over for now Good Luck Blizz I will miss my shammy and hunter and may return in bout 8-10 months after playing TOR hope you get some cool stuff in while i am away

It's not merely that WoW is copying from games that copied it. The problem is that WoW is pretty much being turned up on it's head to shoehorn these new ideas onto their game. As of right now these changes make WoW just not seem like WoW, they might actually turn out good, something I'll find out when I try it for myself. I never got to experience the NGE of Star Wars Galaxies first hand, but I have read about it and from what I read WoW's MOP expansion sounds like it's fitting the bill of NGE

Is anyone else anticipating TORs release more now that they've seen WoW's next xpac?

Aside from myself, my two best friends in the game have no interest in WoW now that MoP has been released. In addition, Cataclysm brought a massive decline in the number of players I could recognise on my realm - the vast majority have gotten bored and departed and judging by the leaving threads and comments...most are awaiting either ToR or GW2.

The only people I know who are remaining are those who didn't take the lore or storyline of WoW all that seriously to begin with, really. Personally, I long for a game that delivers in the PvE, PvP and story aspects of the game - I'm hoping ToR is what I'm looking for.

It's no secret that game developers take ideas from other companies when and where it works. Given the fact that WoW is pretty dated, though, I have my doubts that any of it will be up to the same level as the stuff we'll see in ToR. At best, it's a half-hearted effort to distract players with features that don't really improve the quality of one's gaming time.

Things like the monk no auto attack must have been taken directly from low-life blizzard spies in beta.

The whole MoP expansion is a big cry for help, it's really sad to see that some people actually get pumped on what blizzard actually does without seeing how desperate it all is.

That annual pass is hilarious how it targets suckers who want shiney pets and they give out a whole game free just so thier numbers won't plummet in the next year.

Blizzard has been taking ideas from other games since the dawn of time. No one should be surprised by that. Remember the stuff they took from warhammer beta? The biggest thing i question is the talent system change. I think the talent system in general is broken, however i don't think this is the way to go with it.

I don't get the complaining about this, either it's nice for you or has no effect at all, who cares what their motivation is. There's going to a large crossover of people who play both WoW and Diablo 3, so either you get Diablo 3 essentially for free, or you get WoW at much reduced price if you were going to buy Diablo anyway. If you weren't going to play one or the other, it doesn't affect you at all.

I really don't like where Blizz's is going with this. "Please sign up for a year. Look, you get the game we've been working on for years and even get a free mount." Any ideas on how they plan on getting the use of one of China's cultural icons passed their censors? And how do we go from Illidan to Lich King raising the dead against the world to Deathwing wanting to wipe out all life... to helping pandas make beer? They say they want to avoid the cookie cutter specs, just throwing up their hands and giving everyone the same spec the same abilities helps this cause how exactly?

That's highly subjective. The more casual the game becomes, the less time I need to spend in game to feel like I'm accomplishing something. Whether I spend 6 hours a day mindlessly farming and grinding, or 1 hour a day doing things I find fun and entertaining, either way Blizz is still getting my subscription fee. In both cases I progress my character, but in the second one I'm having fun doing it. And isn't that what gaming is about, having fun? (And of course, "fun" is subjective as well.)

I dosn't directly affect me, just as much of the forign news on TV dosn't. Dosn't mean I can't have an opinion or an observation.

It's just an observation of how pathetic a company can get to ensure their numbers don't plummet when faced against some real competition. I'm sure it will be successful because blizzard has no shortage of blind followers and people persuaded by shiny objects but that's another pathetic issue all together.

Edit: I couldn't put the awesome picture in my sig because of the awful way this site dosn't make it easy to import images from my computer.

If they had instead said, "If you buy Diablo 3, you get WoW at a reduced price for 12 months," would that seem as bad? This way they're not giving away anything, just reducing the price on their old game. But, of course, they're exactly the same deal.

Sorry if my posts seem WoW-sided, I just can't talk about SWTOR at all.

This is my main problem with MoP. It seems like they have a lot of other stories already started that they could have continued with, but instead are going off on a seemingly unrelated tangent.

The marketing for Diablo is smart. "keep subbed to our game for a year, have shiny things". Aka, don't sub to the newer games coming out. By the time time that year is up, we'll almost have an expansion for you to try.

P.S. We'll make money back from the AH, so we're not really taking a hit.

MOP kinda feels like it should of came after the battle with Sargeras. People say that Sargeras will be the final big bad and that no other expansions would come out after, I disagree. I think the lore could get a reboot after Sargeras and new threats never before seen in the Warcraft RTS (where most villains and threats are pulled from in WoW), MOP could of been this reboot but putting it in now feels out of place.

I actually think it makes mild sense. In a distorted way. To face Sargeras, they're likely going to need to team up, the Alliance and Horde that is, but in Cata, they were at war with each other; so my guess is the whole MoP expansion will have them duking it out, then right at the end, the Panderan and going to convince them to work together, or something equally odd.

Yeah that's my biggest concern with WoW. All these changes look good on paper, but I don't have full faith in Blizzard to actually do them justice. It's like why bother changing the core of your game, which they're pretty much leaning towards, if your not going to do a good job with it. Blizzard might actually pull it off though, these things could actually turn out good for WoW, we won't know until they launch it.

they probably announced stuff that wont be in the final game anyway, Path of the titan anyone.

This is why SWTOR is covered in an NDA and they dont release information except about confirmed stuff.

less balancing issue since you get nothing!

Lich king to cataclysm = lose 5 abilities.
Cataclysm to Mist of the Carebear island = lose 3/4 of your abilities

Btw there is no censorship on Panda in China, there is a few games who use them already and no Chinese cried about it. The issue with the Pandaren was that originally the concept art by Samwise were done with Japanese styled armor, building and weapon when the panda are mainly found in China.

Seriously wow players? How can you still defend Blizzard?

How noble of WoW to sacrifice themselves with this expansion to make way for better things...
