Okay computer whizzes, I really need your help.

I recently built my first PC (yesterday), and it keeps randomly freezing. I reinstalled the OS, and it is still happening. I have a lot of errors popping in my event viewer, but I don't know what any of them mean.

If someone who knows this stuff could help me I would appreciate MORE THAN I CAN EXPRESS IN TEXT.

I can post all the specs of my comp if needed, thanks for any help.

Have you been able to Update the OS as well as install it? If the problem is software related, sometimes these major issues can be fixed by updating the OS.

Give me a pic of the inside of yoru computer, since it is your first computer, second give us event log. next get a temperature program installed so ew can rule that out. etc.

I know you've said randomly, but can you pinpoint anything your computer is doing in particular when it does it? Or a certain event directly associated with the lockups? I mean, you have reinstalled the OS so that's eliminated that possibility. Probably your HD is on the fritz, but see if you can provide anything else.

I have one unrecognized device, last time I tried to update it's driver, the comp froze, gonna try again.

Re-seat your RAM and make sure that your power supply is providing enough power.

That's probably it then. You should go into the device manager, uninstall it and/or disable it, see if that corrects the freezing.

Does the CPU match the mobo?

Plugged in my Naga, it installed the driver, then the comp froze.

I think the Naga needs the online version of the drivers to work correctly, although, you may just have a bad USB port and it's locking your computer up anytime it tries to do anything on that port.

I uninstalled the unknown device and tried installing the mouse driver again, same problem. On the 2nd step of installing the driver, it freezes.

It sounds crazy, but even something as simple as plugging in your HD LED light connector into the wrong pins on the motherboard can cause some serious errors in windows and/or cause the computer to intermittently not boot. I recently troubleshot a computer for someone and this was the exact problem.

Of course, your problem could be totally different. I share the story primarily to illustrate the fact that what help you'll be able to receive on forums could be somewhat limited. But certainly if you aren't experienced with building PCs, double check any and all connections relating to the motherboard as something as simple as that can cause crazy errors like you're seeing.

Hmm... You by any chance plugged in USB cable on the motherboard into Firewire pins and trying to use those ports for the mouse? Those are for some stupid reason compatible and you can damage the board doing that.
