    question about ctc

    So first off, I'm a mainspec Holydin with quite a good offspec of tank set. We just got 6/7 H in our 10m guild and are going to put some solid attempts in on H Rag. I don't have 1st chance at tank gear, so that's why I'm wearing a mixup of gear, but I think I'm able to tank it. Since our current OT is a bear with lacking gear (fresh 85, speed leveled to replace the OT we lost) I'm going to help tank.

    Completely unbuffed, I'm at:
    15.41 dodge
    14.91 parry
    68.10 block

    Isn't CTC capped dodge+block+parry+ 5% miss >= 102.4

    With this current setup I'm actually way over at 103.42

    However, my ElvUI says that for a ?? Boss, that I'm only at 101.02

    ElvUI calculates a ?? to have 4.4 miss, and it drops my dodge/parry/block just slightly, down to:
    14.81 dodge
    14.31 parry
    67.5 block

    So which is correct? If the first setup is right, I can cut out a bit of mastery and get a lot more HP/dodge/parry. But if not I'm pretty close with raid buffs, maybe a little short. Thanks in advance.

    my toon is kamkazidonut, on ghostlands
    ---

    TLDR, what is the correct CTC calculation?

    There used to be a script you could run but last time I looked at that it was in wrath with the defense stat going on. If I can find something specific for ya i'll get back to you.

    I use this in a macro:

    /run dr=function(x)return 1/(1/16+0.9560/x)end;DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Need 102.4 - Currently at: "..string.format("%.2f", GetDodgeChance()+GetBlockChance()+GetParryChance()+5+dr(floor(GetCombatRatingBonus(CR_DEFE NSE_SKILL))*0.04)))

    There we go, but I did a copy and paste of that for my own character and nothing comes up?

    It doesn't work for me, either, when I just copy/paste it into the chat field, but it works fine when I put it in a macro. My prot pally alt comes up as "Need 102.4 - Currently at: 91.45"

    Yes the CTC is accurate on your ElvUI. It changes depending on your targets level. Target a lv25 and you'll see it jump bigtime. Target a lv85 and you'll get the amount you see in your character screen. Target a lv88 or lv?? then it will drop.

    Edit: I believe you need 102.4 when targetting a level 85... So against a lv?? you have 100%.

    Correct

    If you're at 103.42% your 2 options for getting that closer to the 102.4% is either stam or more avoidance. If you have access to a decent spreadsheet it's easy to just go through and replace some of your gems and get yourself as close to 102.4% as possible while swapping in stam/parry/dodge gems depending on your personal choice.

    I stand slightly corrected. :P

    From wowhead; Level ?? - http://www.wowhead.com/npc=53691
    From Official forum: 87-88 - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/zone/firelands/shannox

    Therefore three lvls above causing the crit / avoidance / hit / expertise rule. As you said.

    the thing is both your adon and the macro are correct you just have to remember the adon will always just need 100% only he macro needs to be above that.

    You need to have 100% avoidance to not be hit by an 85. every level above 85 removes .2% dodge, parry, block, and miss each. So 100% for 85 100.8% for 86 101.6% for 87 and 102.4% for a skull or 88.

    OK, i was getting a bit confused because I knew of 102.4, but the ElvUi changing my avoidance number was confusing.

    So, looking at an 85, i need 102.4, but looking at a ?? I just need 100% using ElvUi.

    Thanks guys.
