30 Thaumatuge 15 Pugilist was the combo in 1.0. I'm not sure but i think they are changing the 15 PUG requirement to 15 arcanist for ARR.

Everything seemed to have a 15 Pug requirement. Im sure that will change once Open Beta starts

Make a seperate thread for it. You can't even join a guild/ free company until lv 15 (i think?) and / or completion of a certain point in the story anyway.

You can join at any level, a free company cannot be created till level 25.

Still gonna start as Marauder and work my way up to Warrior, but also work toward raising Gladiator and Conjurer enough for Paladin. Then I just play whichever tank I like the most.

Don't let that stop you. With Duty Finder you'll almost always have instant queues so it's not like you'll be sitting around damning the rest of the healing population. Also for things like fates (I can't speak for scholar as we haven't tried it) white mage is actually very fun to play, albeit a little spammy. It's spells do respectable damage and Holy is a very decent AoE later on.

I couldnt decide between Archer and Lancer. I want to play Dragoon (played one in 11) but Archer seems fun also, I just am not sold on being a bard...

I am 100% being a Dragoon, but it does feel like a ton of people are selecting it. Then again, it really doesn't matter since a ton of people will be everything.

I tried a marauder, but then got all gloomy when someone here (I think you?) told me it wasn't necessarily pure DPS and was more or less a terrible version of a maintank.

I got sad and rerolled.

LOL yeah Marauder and Warriors are tank classes mainly...But they put out nice DPS..Still gotta be careful playing em so you don't run out of TP or similar problems and AoE CAN be a pain if people play like it;s wow and don't let you get even some threat.

Just a heads up, gamebreakter.tv will start their new XIV show in half an hour from now on, at 4 PST. I don't know what they will talk about, I assume a recap as it is their first one.
