I've only been very loosely following this but I was curious if someone could explain the relationship between classes and jobs? Or at least point me in the right direction.

Classes are:
Conjurer (healer)
Thaumaturge (nuker)
Maruder (warrior)
Puglist (monk)
Lacer (Dragoon)
Like FFXI (if you played that), you can level multiple jobs with 1 character, so I can have a Conjurer and Thaumaturge on the same character. The benefit of class is, you can "equip" some of other Class's abilities. As a Thaumaturge, but also has a Conjurer, I can equip healing spell on my Thaumaturge (which some quest pretty much require you to, yes you the quest with the mage + demon combo), you can also equip Rezz and other useful spell from Conjurer.
However, the moment you becomes a Job (Thaumaturge becomes Black Mage), you lose that flexibility, you can no longer equip spells from Conjurer and such, however, in return you gain specialised powerful spells and abilities that only Black Mages can use, like Convert (health into mana), Ancient Magic and such.
Seems like that covers the disciples of war and magic but what of the hand/land disciples?
Does only one class become one job or is it more like a magic class can become a magic job, not just one.
Can you get all jobs with one character? If so wouldn't that mean you would need to go through a class again?
I didn't play FFXI at all so its very new to me and the main site isn't giving specifics.
War and Magic are the combat, Hand and Land are the crafting. Hand and Land are just crafting and you do crafting stuff without the rule sets of the combat ones.
Two class prerequisite is needed for a job.
Yes.
No and yes. If it uses different classes you need to go through and level those classes, if it doesn't / have overlapping, then no.
sooo anyone else getting kinda neurotic and semi paranoid about all the pre order and email stuff? They need to just let us bloody register our codes already.
So many people wanting to be a drg. I remember this 8 yrs ago. Maybe Yoshi P won't make it "lolarg" this time. :P
Why are dragoons going to be so popular? My friend is thinking of maining that. The only other Melee dps option is the Monk....? Warrior and Paladin are tanks from what I've read.
Well, either or will be my play...realms XD.
EDIT: My biggest criticism is there is no two handed sword class. Yeah people mention Dark Knight but it seems like a warrior with dark powers and that's what angers me. Meh guess I'll roll either Marurader and RP with a two handed sword.... -_-
#TeamLegion #UnderEarthofAzerothexpansion plz #Arathor4Alliance #TeamNoBlueHorde
Warrior-Magi
Ahem and thus raise Gladiator enough for flash...

Not sure and I mainly did the first 3 instances...The copperbell mined have a fight where you gotta defeat a bunch of super weak enemies(but look out for losing too much TP as a marauder and mp as a Gladiator) but then a boss comes eho goes STRAIGHT for the healer....Trick is to position your party across from the entrance where he spawns.
Another fight there has an enemy you have to blow up...But to do this you gotta get a very high aoe damage monster near to kill it and avoid AOE.
Then another dungeon has a lightning based creature avoid the water and pull it out.
Those are some of the more memorable early fights and it just build up as it goes...Also it will auto scale your level so no overpowering the places.
And yeah Marauders become warriors and they tank with 2h axes while the Gladiator/paladin uses daggers/swords and a shield.
Lancers/Dragoons use lances Pugilists/monks fist weapons and TBH I didn't fully keep track of the other ones LOL.
Oh archers/bards use a bow

I feel the same but if there isn't a thief/ninja class in the works to be added later I will be extremely surprised. That's one of the best things with ff14 that you don't get with most mmos if they release a new class that you really want to play you aren't forced to abandon your character you have put so many hours into.
