Finally got all 80 unidentifiable items and once I've done Crystal Tower weekly, I'll have all 5 oils as well.
Got Bard 55, and 4/6 of zones for first Anima quest done.

Played Surv since BC dabbled a bit on the PRT yesterday (since it doesn't require a sub) picked Marksman because i don't like melee and they moved most of the old Surv skills there. After 10 mins came to the conclusion my class will never be the same again got irritated by the gun sounds(I know you can transmogrify but this pretty much rules out potential BM play for me as well unless transmog lol as well) and I am not to fond of the new style and logged out again.
I still might try legion when it goes for sale purely for the story (if its good) but i don't see myself playing it long term anymore.
FF has spoiled be to much it seems XD (game aint perfect but it has a good balance between stuff.)

Ι ve come to drop my 2 cents on the topic of the deep dungeon as well.
I like it a lot. It's piss easy and gets boring rather fast but I like it. Do you know why? Because it's a first step to somethign that is going to have a lot of potential! 1-50 might have been piss easy and so will 50-100 but they said that 100-150 and especially 150-200 is going to be a tough challenge.
And since I absolutely LOVE the whole concept and the whole way you get rewards out of it, tieing some actual 4man difficulty into it is just icing on the cake.
Cannot wait for the next floors! It's also another nice way to grab some matteria Vs and level some classes along the way! The exp isn't that good for the time it takes but it's just an added bonus to everything else you can get out of it.
Aight, floor 50 done -- was fun.
As 55 Bard I got 655,200 (+50%) experience from running floors 41-50.
is it soloable for now?
someone else might have gotten it wrong.
I only wish FF was as technically sophisticated as WoW.
In ARF I always get annoyed if I enter the vortex to get stunned with 2 seconds bosscast remaining, I get the proper animations BEFORE the boss does anything yet I still get the debuffs?
UGH. Get your act together SE. The delay you have in terms of UI display, position display of other players etc is ludicrous compared to WoW.
And no, with a ~35ms latency to the FF-XIV servers it's definitely NOT my connection that is at fault here.
Yep, that one's always fun. I quickly learned to be in that portal thing by the time the cast bar on the boss is at halfway. Better to lose a global or two than to get hit with eleventy billion debuffs.
I think it's the asian obsession with animations. I've sen that in many asian MMOs.
AION was also a horrible offender with this as every action basically stunned your char until "derpanimation" has been played.
It was the same with the worm in one of the Lv50 experts. If the bosses AE hit before your animation of getting sucked up played out and you got your debuffs, you got the damage, despite being in the right place at the right time.
Add to that, that the bosses cast is already running for at least half a second before our UI starts displaying it (thanks UI delay) and tight timing with maximum damage gets very wonky to impossible.
I prefer WoWs approach, where gameplay comes first and animations get disregarded if push comes to shove (hello limit animation lock >.<) and efficient coding where you know stuff will hit when the timer reaches 0 and not a second later / earlier.
Speaking of animation locks: am I the only one that is royally annoyed by animation locks when quest givers walk away etc (ESP on dailies)? Deal lord, just let me continue. >.<
Despite my annoyances with the animations/animation lock/client-server wonkiness, they are things that I've adapted to in this game, and in some cases, use to my advantage (shuffle step casting comes to mind). From my experience, the fluidity of WoW's engine/animations has been one of it's strongest points, no matter how old that engine may be and how much folks harp on it for it's age.
I dunno if this is the animation lock, but one of the more bizzare quest NPCs is the Vanu fishing guy, who insists on having to put away his fishing rod, then turn to face you before speaking, then goes right back to it as soon as you pick up each quest from him. Not a game breaking issue, of course, but one of those things that makes me sit there going "cmon, man".
I'm struggling to think of any quest NPCs who walk around, but I know at some point I've encountered at least one; I know this because the issue you're describing is what I encountered as well.
The animation and timing issues are two of the big things that contributed to me losing interest in the game.
All of WoW's combat animations take exactly one second to play. Cast animations last the duration of the cast time, the combat animation plays, and effects are applied. Even projectile travel time is taken into account, despite being unavoidable.
In FFXIV, you're constantly running into issues where damage is calculated before animations even play out. If you're standing in a telegraphed aoe, you take damage regardless of whether or not the animation hits you. And of course you can step right into the animation without taking damage as soon as the telegraphed warning ends. It just feels shitty and disconnected.
Similar issues occur when you perform your own abilities, and even when you're just running around, since they had to implement startup and slowdown animations.
One of the best (and most overlooked) aspects of WoW is how responsive the controls are, and FFXIV is really lacking in that area. There's something to be said for pushing a button and getting an immediate response, or holding a button and letting it go without overshooting your timing due to some extra steps of animation.
i'm now at this point for a 2nd anima and i'm still not sure which one to do.
If we're going to talk about questing issues then lets not ignore the issue that's been around for ages in WoW and that's escort quests or anything similar. I'm talking about npcs rushing towards a mob while your escorting them and then booking it to their previous location making them constantly run back and forth. Yes it still happens even in some WoD Quests.
There's some pluses to FFXIV though and how they do things. For example I've never ever encountered were a boss bugs out if a person is locked out of the fight which happens a lot in stuff like LFR and DF. Its something that was always an issue in pug content on WoW, at least for me.
As far as combat I personally enjoy the system FFXIV has more then the current WoW system which I find incredibly dull, more so in Legion than ever before. Proc systems are just not fun for me but to each their own.

Erm.. almost everyone does when you hand in a quest. They yap, then they make some gesture and then they WALK out of the frame to despawn. All the while your character is stunned and your gameflow is interrupted.
I hate it.
Just let me hand in the crap and move on. Stop constantly interrupting me.

Yeah escort quests are THE worst thing in WoW.
Why oh why can't that escort NPC simply follow the goddamn player? We all know Blizzard can do that, yet they keep torturing us with "escort me outta here" = Allah Ak'bar! Look at my ally, now you all die *NPC rshes into the masses*. Esp funny if the NPC is actually wounded and weak.
Ha, like hell it's overlooked.
It gets mentioned every single time there's an MMO that handles combat differently, whether that difference is major or minor. Frequently.
Personally, I treat it as just one way of handling combat. Like DMC feels different than Dark Souls which feels different from Monster Hunter, despite all three having action combat.
WoW feels one way. FFXIV feels another. Both are fine by me.
