    Fable?

So I've never played any of the Fable games before, but I love RPGs and all that good stuff. So I figured while I impatiently await the release of future games coming out, I might try one (or two, or all three) of them, but I'm not sure which one to try. I've heard that the first one is the best, but I don't know enough about any of the games to make an actual decision. They all look pretty cool in my eyes, but that's just judging by gameplay videos that are very brief and don't really reach all that far into the game. So I thought I'd ask for the opinions of the people here. Gotta take it to the pros.

Which Fable is the best? 1, 2, or 3?

I've only played 3 and the first 2 or 3 hours of 2.
3 while the actual story is quite engaging, I dislike the controls on PC (2 is okay on Xbox). The graphics are gorgeous and its very quirky. I think they're worth a try, but don't expect to play it for more then 20 hours. Which for me, isn't a lot at all.

3 was nice to play through I recommend it if you don't pay too much for it.

Just picked it up myself. I dunno how I like it so far. I mean I like everything it does, I just don't like how it's executed.

I loved the original, but the second I couldn't even be bothered to finish. Didn't even spend the money for the third.

Fable 1 is the best, you got better at what you were using, also you character changed alot more (looks, height, etc) than the other 2 games, also, they pretty much just shaved off stuff from the previous games for every release

Fable 1 is an amazing Game, Fable II is alright, and Fable III is a completely awful game, I would suggest Avoiding it.

For me personally, 1>3>2. 2 was just really meh. 3 I couldn't get into too much, but that's not because it was a bad game, just didn't quite have the time. 1 was played for many hours. None of them are deep games at all (the customization in the first and second are notably plain), but they're good at what they do, and even Fable 2 was enjoyable.

The series isn't so bad, but there just never seemed like much to do after awhile. I always preferred Elderscrolls 3 and 4 to any of the Fable games.

Fable 1: The Lost Chapters is one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and I am far from alone in the statement. Fable 2 is alright... if you don't compare it to the first game and just imagine that it's its own game, then it's pretty good. Fable 3 was an atrocity that left a bad taste in my mouth about the entire series. The story sucks, the combat is boring, and the customization is laughably shallow. For God's sake... you keep the same weapon the entire game. Don't ruin Fable for yourself by playing the 3rd, I beg you.

Fable 1: The Lost Chapters is by far the best Fable game and its one of the best games overall that Ive played, its at least in the top 15.

1>3>2. The original is by far the best. It's better than 2 and 3 combined. Fable the lost chapters is absolutely incredible, and I'd recommend it to anyone that likes RPGs or hack and slash games. Everything about it is just better. It's got a more epic story, bigger and better boss fights, more options for character customization, etc.

I don't know, it also just does a much better job of making you feel like a badass. In Fable 2 and 3, they nerfed every spell and ability that was cool, because they were "imbalanced" in a damn single player game.

Not to mention Fable 2 and 3 were just huge jokes. Every side quest is just a stupid running gag. Even the main quest of both just gets ridiculous at times, especially in Fable 2. It's like the game designers couldn't decide between trying to make a comedy movie and a fantasy action game.

Fable 1 has none of those downfalls, it's serious most of the time. It has the occasional random joke, but it's not so bad that it breaks the freaking fourth wall. And I don't want to ruin anything, but the last boss of Fable the lost chapters is one of the most epics fights I've ever seen. That boss fight alone makes the entire game worth it imo.

Your health is low! Do you have any potions? Or food?

I only played fable 1 with the lost chapters and I was amazed at how short it was. I felt I hardly got started.

Fable 1 is the definitely best. Fantastic villain, great story and amazing zones with a really nice aesthetic. The Lost Chapters expansion/ version of 1 is worth getting.
Playing 1 before 2 will make the second a much greater experience too. I really enjoyed 2, though many seem to feel it was nowhere near as got as the first. I think that's just exaggerating.

Fable: The Lost Chapters is by far the best of the three. In my opinion, Id say 2 was better than 3. But that isn't saying much. In my book, it is only better by a small amount.

There is so much they could do with this game. The name Fable itself should make you feel amazed by what you see and do.

All three games are really linear in general, but The Lost Chapters isn't so bad and is sorta a challenge in combat(compared to the other two games).

The game should have been more available. Not 1 or 2 paths that lead to the same exact goal.

I don't remember much from two, other than the Co-Op mode was "meh" at best. The third game, was all hyped by saying "You can run a kingdom as king". But forgets to tell you the fact that, you actually get to sit in a chair, making decisions. Not be a tyrant or whichever.

I think, what they need to do is go back, and go "Look, what made The Lost Chapters so great? What from Fable 2 and Fable 3, can we take and impliment into a brand new, Fable 2.0 version of the game, and make it a comeback came, that will actually live up to the hype?"

It isn't that the games were bad. They were fun. Its just the customization and the length the game lasts, is pitiful really. For a 60$ game at release, it isn't worth buying. The game was getting too watered down as they went down the line in new fable games.

So, if you choose to pick up any of the three games, go with Fable: The Lost Chapters. Make sure it has "The Lost Chapters" on it, otherwise you're missing out on some content.

1st one was easily the best, although you kind of need the Lost Chapters version since that is pretty much the actual ending, bit annoying after buying the original and it getting cut off so early.

It's not a long game by any means but it is a ton of fun, I'd recommend it, but don't waste your time on 2 & 3.

I've played all three and loved em all. Fable: Lost Chapters though, best imo. Play all of em, start from the first and go in order. Also, I can't remember if you can in Fable 2 or 3, but playing soccer with some1's head in the first Fable was the best thing ever.

    Reaver all day, erryday.

Since i play only on PC, got only 1 and 3. Both very good games, but the story is waaaaaay too short. It has some replayability, but in the end it's all reduced to 3-4 meaningful choices, the rest are fluffy things.

It's a very interesting concept for a game, graphic is really good, but it need to be like 4 or 5 times longer. Completed everything in Fable 1 in 11 hours. Fable 3 required me 19 hours. It's not a game i would spend money on.

Thanks guys! I'm just going to try the first Fable for now and see how I like it. I'll look into the other two to see if they are something that I'd want to play. I appreciate the advice. =)

I remembered liking the original Fable, so I bought Fable III recently (never played II as I only play games on my computer). It was... quite a disappointment. While the game is beautiful, everything is so simplified. You can't even see your level of health and the only way of figuring out that you're low is that the health pot/food menu comes up. When interacting with npcs in the game, you can only use actions such as whistle, dance, fart, etc. Actually, I think Angry Joe's review is spot on.
