    Graphics Card Memory Low

    Hey,

I have an ATI Radeon HD4850 512MB (I know, it's old.) and I checked in my dxdiag yesterday and discovered this:

It's telling me I only have 240MB of video memory, why is this? Is my card dying out or something?

Any information would help me, thanks for reading. :P

Hihi, ATI :-) (4 out of 5 DOA) * Mod Edit: Chill. This isn't very constructive posting, is it? We frown upon brandbashing here.

    Also, I found: http://www.ngohq.com/graphic-cards/2...eo-memory.html

Run a program called gpuz I have seen other instances where dxdiag shows incorrect video memory.

That site most likely queries direct x for the vram size. I would recommend checking if gpuz shows the same. That or run a game that is graphically demanding while using afterburner to monitor vram usage to see if 512mb is still available to the apps.

Edit: just so you know where I'm coming from. When doing hardware surveys in the past steam and blizzard have both reported incorrect vram size even though there was nothing wrong with the card or programs using the card.
