    [Help!] Americas must see places

    Hey guys,

I'll just dive straight in here.. me and my partner have been trying to plan a long holiday to America, hoping to travel for roughly 3-6 months going from place to place all over the US. We're trying to stay away from the most tourist places (IE: Florida, only a few nights in New York) and want to focus on seeing the side of America that most people won't see. We've been keeping up to date with the series Man vs Food to find places we'd love to go, try out the food and what not. Ideally I'd like to start in New York and end in Las Vegas but I mostly want to know from you guys what places you love, have been too or even residing in at the moment which can offer us a great time in terms of food, attractions, events and so on. Thanks!

    There are some pretty places.

I would personally suggest the Florida Keys, Kiawah Island off the South Carolina Coast http://www.kiawahresort.com/, the Blue Ridge Mountains http://www.groveparkinn.com/Leisure/

    ^_^

Come to Fort Worth if you want amazing steaks, come to North Dallas if you want fine dining. Go to the rest of DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) if you want authentic Tex-Mex, Texas BBQ, Mexican, Deep South, Creole, Vietnamese, or Indian food. The whole of North Texas is beautiful, and seeing Dallas at night just makes me smile. If you want to go from NY to Vegas, you'd have to dip a bit south, but Tex-Mex/Mexican food and Deep South Home cooking and Creole Seafood make it worth it. Always go to hole in the wall places if you want the real deal.

Awesome, I've only ever seen pictures of the Keys, been to Florida before though - was amazing, any places you can suggest for great food in Florida Keys or Kiawah Island?

I'd definately be going to Texas on my journey, the exact route isn't planned yet but my partner has never been to NY where I have and she'd love it, I was hoping to end up in Vegas so I can propose to her but I can propose at any time that I feel right during the entire trip Not really a fan of Creole or Seafood other than Salmon, Trout and all that kind of fish, anything in a shell isn't for me or her tbh - Definately want to sink my teeth into a proper steak though Any idea if American Steaks differ from British Sirlion steaks at all?

Bump (Sorry if this is against the rules, I checked the off-topc Forum Rules post and it said nothing about bumping).

I like out door stuff when I travel, so I would suggest the Appalachian Mountains, maybe try and go skiing in Colorado
