preparing for the beta weekend

are there any special precautions i should take for the beta weekend, apart from having the client fully installed and updated?

Besides the full client install, I'd say update your account security. Try to log into the client with your info, if you updated your account settings it should just have a greyed out login button. If you haven't done that yet, it should, in red letters at the top, say "adjust your account security" Do that, otherwise you won't be able to play

The biggest precaution you should take imo is your attitude/expectations:

This is a beta.
This is a stress test.

Expect lag, queues, and otherwise lots of people.

The game is amazing (imo), but frustration due to unrealistic expectations could ruin it for you.

For me I've done the following:

- Download the patch
- Did Laundry
- Cleaned the house
- Caught up on my TV viewing on the PVR
- Got present to a birthday I have to go to on Sunday
- Got groceries
- Got gas in the car.

I did all that just so I wouldn't have to spend a minute away from the beta this weekend except for Sunday. Is it sad I did all that? Probably. Would I change anything? Not on your life.

well, i got a Bday party to go to saturday evening, and possibly even a funeral that morning. my account security is fine (although i should maybe change some of my security answers to something that's less ambiguous, I got one today that took me 2 tries to figure out).

Pretty much this, expect there to be a lot of people playing this weekend. And don't be surprised if the servers are down for most of it.

All I want is to see how the game runs on my PC more then anything, and a chance to play around with some of the classes. I'm not expecting or even wanting to lvl up far, just some hands on with them more then anything.

Other then that I have no plans, I just hope I can keep the Skyrim monkey off my back.

Meh, got my dad's b-day Sunday, sister is picking me up late morning.

That wouldn't be such a big deal if I had access from Friday, but I only get to play starting Saturday 5 p.m. my time zone.

So I'm pretty much relegated to pulling an all nighter Sat/Sun, going to bed at about 4 a.m. sleep some 6 hours (probably turn in to 5 -6 a.m. and some 4 hours sleep ) and then visit my dad.

I might be able to squeeze in a few hours Sunday after, depending on what time the beta event ends. It'll probably be a U.S. time ending, so that should give me some hours in to the night maybe.

So to maximize my output of gaming per available hour I'll eat early and keep a pizza on hand for if I get really hungry at some point. Might switch to cereal if it's past 3 a.m. I always have plenty of drinks and snacks/sweets and as said only have 1 session of playing time probably.

Be prepared to instantly turn off both General and Trade chat when you enter the game. Think Barrens chat 2.0.

energy drinks may play a role in my diet from fri-monday. food is less important. to me. i dont think i ate at all the day cata came out. just sipped some sunkist.
and, like others have said, be prepared for Ques, server restarts/crashes, ppl being stupid(IMMA BOUNTY HUNTER HOW CAN I USE A LIGHTSABER??!!!),and other various bugs/glitches that may crop up in this "simulate" of a release.
