Why am I getting this error when I try to install Windows 7?

I'm clean installing Windows 7 on a new system I just built from an burned .iso on a DVD and all is fine until I get past the language selection.

    I get the error:
    http://www.mcbsys.com/techblog/wp-co...verneeded1.png

Using a HP 1260i DVD writer as my drive.
    Operating Systems Supported
-Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4 / XP / Vista (32 bit or 64 bit) or later
Is Windows 7 implied after it says later, or is it really not supported?
    Apparently it is: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...2fRW&os=64-bit
    Hmmm...

    I've tried:
-Changing SATA port mode settings from IDE to AHCI and RAID in BIOS, but a white line blinks in the top corner after the MB screen pops up.
-Putting the SATA cable connecting the disk drive into a 3gb/s port from the 6gb/s port.
-Burning the .iso again, but to no avail.
    FAQ:
-I didn't get a driver CD with the drive I purchased.
-I did set the disk drive to the first boot device.

    Thanks.

    Using a USB3 port perhaps?

No, not using the USB2 ports on the front of my case now, but if I do they aren't USB3.

Sounds like a bad .iso mate.
Can you give any justification as to why it sounds like one?
I'll give those a try when I arrive back home. I know this sounds obvious, but are those just the 90 day trials?

just some another tip that probably wont work:
Change BIOS boot order The most successful fix for this issue is to set the optical (DVD) drive as the first boot device in the BIOS.

Have you checked if there are any drivers for your DVD-drive on HP's site? Maybe the current firmware for your DVD-drive is fail, but might be hard to update that without getting to windows first..
You could also install Windows 7 from USB stick, google for "Installing Windows 7 from USB" or something similiar :P

Yeah if you have 4gb or more USB flash that's the easiest way, use official MS tool:
    http://images2.store.microsoft.com/p...B-DVD-tool.exe

It's also possible to install Win7 from internal HDD (on the same hdd you are installing from). I actually installed it that way because i didn't have dvd burner or 4gb flash. However it needs a proper guide and for now i can't google the correct one, will try at home.

Yes, it doesn't need any drivers.

This is what I'm going to do, burn another .iso, then if that doesn't work, I'll try one of the .iso's in Culadin's post.

I'll look into that as last resort, seems complicated for not having another PC.
