    Time for a new router?

Hey mmo, hope you read this before the store closes :P

My nets been utterly Bananahouse lately, and I've decided its because my 7 year old router is starting to crap out (No proof :P)

Going to go and buy a new router, in the $150-$200 range. Will this increase my internet's performance/download speed?

Usually runs about.. 2-3MB/s download. lately its been struggling to reach over 300kb/s.
WoW usually runs on ~150ms, lately its over 600.

(Yeah, I'm in NZ. I don't want to hear about your 25MB/s download speeds.)

    Cheers

you can also build one, supermicro makes a ITX board with dual intel NIC's, you can use that, a small hdd, 4gb of ram, and pfsense firewall software to make a router that is better then anything off the shelf

    edit for some links:

    Supermicro MB:http://www.supermicro.nl/products/mo...m?typ=H&IPMI=Y

    PFSense: http://www.pfsense.org/

Holy shit $150 - $200 router? Way overpriced. My $70 router handles 50Mbps no problem (I don't have it that fast just from reviews).

Have you contacted your ISP? It could be a problem with your line and your router may not help anything. I have had more modems die on me than routers. Unless money isn't an issue for you I would first research the problem more.

I'm running a router that came with my AT&T high-speed DSL.

I get 20-40ms ingame, and (lol) ~300kbps download speed.

Grab some cisco one and you'll be set. That aside, go pick up leatrix. just google Leatrix, install it and see how much it helps.
