Have them get Tor, then try the free month make decisions then.
Depends, really. If they're into SW, then it's a no brainer, tell them what it's about.
If they enjoy BW SRPGs, tell them it's basically KotOR 3.
If they're looking for a change of scene and want to abandon their WoW characters and WoW communities to start over (for what, I don't know) then tell them they can start from scratch.
Reading this thread made me sign up for the annual pass on my main wow account, is that bad did not realize you got a fancy schmancy mount and beta access.
They can cancel the annual sub, just tell them to ring billing. They are pretty lax about doing it.
Is this a troll? Why would you have to force people into trying shit till they like it? Who cares if they want oranges, you want apples.
Edit: Infact i think you prob are a douche irl. I mean who does that kinda shit to their friends? "I like this and you kinda don't so i have to do everything in my power to make sure you end up liking what I do." Live and let live.

Blankets aren't just for keeping you warm : )
I have seen each SW movie once... They're alright, but no better than the competition has been. I would not call myself a fan, and went into a beta weekend with little expectations. I decided at that point that it was worth a try.
So not only do I not fit your carefully conceived formula, I wasn't even playing WoW or any other massive recently.
I'll leave out whatever you think makes a 'true' fan.

Can you imagine the million people that signed the joke contract knowing what it meant and will be deliriously happy about their savings?

i signed up for the 1 year deal, because i still enjoy wow, want to try D3 and the vanity items for wow arent that bad either.
if there were only a month by month option for payment for wow, i would have not bothered perhaps. or at least thought about it more. the fact that i can use gamecards toward that year long binding contract, as well as 6 month option for payment, means the most i do if i dont play it as much because of tor, is "oh well", because i wont have to worry about a monthly charge going out. (i would've budgeted a 6 monthly sub option already)
on the flipside, id have an active wow account to play as and when i felt like it. the price tag for TOR is quite hefty, but the game is quite fun as well
I'll be honest, I signed up for this when I was playing WoW casually. I now have no interest to play again until MoP launches. So yes I am losing out on money, but I have no problem for 2 reasons: Diablo 3, and MoP Beta. I plan on playing SWTOR during my break from WoW, but getting the beta for MoP was alone good enough to sign up for 12 months of a game I may or may not play.
If you have the money to blow then do the contract simple. You can choose to play all 12 months or play only 1 of those months and to me you still got your moneys worth if you are truly a Blizzard supporter.
Yes, the blues on the forums tend to have lost the plot. I remember seeing somewhere Ghostcrawler comparing forum chat to a sort of conversation you have with your "boss". If you would talk to your "boss" recklessly, you will be punished - "they" expect the same on forums.
All I could think when I read this is the superiority complex and arrogance these guys have as Blizzard.
Newsflash, f--kwits! You are a supplier of entertainment. You are a supplier. We are paying customers. You are not our boss. If you screw up, we're going to complain in the loudest possible terms by taking our money elsewhere.
While I have an issue with direct personal attacks on the blues for no reason, if there is something I don't like, I am going to be heard and I will reprimand them in the same tone I reprimand any employee /or contracter that doesn't fulfill his obligation. "We" are the boss. People need to realize this.
I dont really have excitement for WoW that I used to have. The fact that 4.3 coming out on Tuesday doesn't make me go "wheee" is sad. I've played for years, taken breaks...lol. Ah well. either way, I've signed up for a year for various reasons. Have my own buyers remorse, but likely won't change my mind.
and I'll be playing SWTOR....a lot.
I had an issue in the beta.
I got a mail in game back with a link with no linking aspect or url to it.
IT was just bolded KNOWN GAME BUGS.
No, hi here is where you should go, nothing other then that.
CARE? At least blizz's form letters read nicer then just 3 bold words. Piss poor imho. Piss fucking poor.

If they have the money, they should play both although WoW doesn't have much content to do right now and if you have a good guild you'll finish with Deathwing in 2 weeks then another 6 months at least with no content. SW is a very nice substitute.
Dont convince them or they will hate you. Beta weekend showed us very boring game with mass repeating story plot.
Yes yes, I know, the sky just bonked you on the head, casuals are taking over the government, and some baddie just got a raid drop... I think you'll live.

That 12 month contract sounds like such a good idea when you first think abvout it, but its such a trap also, even if you can cancle it i doubt they will make it easy. And if you get fed up and quit playing, they get your money and have one less person on the servers to manage. Sure you get D3 but so what. I dont know if ill get D3 yet or not, depends on when it launches and whats going on in SWTOR at the time, but i expect ill be too busy with this game to bother with D3.
Show your friends everything the game has going for it, point them in the direction of all the game play vids and stuff that has been uploaded since the NDA dropped.
But if they are die hard WOW fanboys then your in for a rough time. It seems more and more that people who are such die hard fans of that game, act like they are wearing blinders and cant see other games for how good they are, or the faults that WOW has.
Convince them cause they will love you. Beta weekend showed us very awesome story driven game with great plot.
Persuade Bioware to produce a better game?
Do your friends like WoW? If so, I don't see why you're trying to force them to play SWTOR. If they're looking for a game with a more personalized story and engaging dialogue/acting or if they just love star wars, then you can take the angle that SWTOR beats WoW in that respect. If they really like WoW, they're not going to be crazy about SWTOR I think.
