It is an Auxillery ship, but it is still a Royal navy vessel manned and crewed by the military, carrying a lot of small arms and point defence weapons.

Oh man if only all the marines decided to just hide in the ship then wait for them to board.
Yes it would be stupid and create higher risk than needed, but it is funny to think about

I bet they did.... However after Fort Vic laid down warning shots using their Miniguns the pirates had a sudden change of heart...

That's not the kind of booty plundering they were hoping for.They can dynamite Devil Reef, but that will bring no relief, Y'ha-nthlei is deeper than they know.
