I'm upgrading my stuff, and got everything now, but my current PSU just has way too short cables for the CPU, I have to put the cable under the graphics card, which just isn't going to work. Not to mention that I have to upgrade to a bit better PSU either way.
Anyone know of a good 650W PSU? My system will run a i5 2500k, 16gb DDR3 1600Mhz RAM as well as a 6950. Wont bother with crossfire, but will OC the card probably.
My motherboard is a ASUS P8Z68-V LX, so need a 8 pin CPU cable, or a 4+4 cable I guess..
Tips for cable management? I'm getting a new case as well, the NZXT Phantom since it was cheap on a sale.
Most any modular PSU should have cables long enough to run behind the mobo tray. Seasonic and corsair are great brands to check out for what you want to do.
Any Seasonic or Corsair PSU would be great. This one from Seasonic would be perfect if you're willing to spend a bit more for the 80+ gold and the modularity of the cables. It is also just a great PSU all around. Can't go wrong with Seasonic X series to be honest.
For cable management you pass your cables behind the motherboard tray and try to zip tie them together at good spots to be able to close the door and have cleaner looks/better airflow. This video is long but you can skip through it to see how he does it or even watch all of it because it is very informative
Personally id go with the Antec High current gamer 620W, it has a very nice rebate on it (at the moment) and its the exact same thing as the Seasonic S12II just with Antec logo on it
If you want a modular PSU id go with a Seasonic M12II 620W!
