Not sure if this is old news but there's a sunken city a bit off the coast of Ember Ilse, not sure what it's for, it's down very deep so you can't really stumble across it
Here's a short video just showing a tiny portion of the city
I have never played Rift but that is pretty damn cool. I've always liked stuff like that in games. I go to the monument for rousch when I'm in the area and do a /mourn and /cheer. That's about the most RP I do but hidden away items I enjoy because it means someone cared enough to dedicate time placing it there.
There is some place called Tempest Deeps that used to be on Rift maps. It has got to serve some purpose in a future content patch. Underwater zone would the shiat
awesome! gonna have to check this out. I love finding hidden treasures in games, and this looks like quite a treasure. so much development put into this underwater city. I used to like going to the top of the mountains in barrens back when I played wow, thinking I was exploring mysteries not many others are thinking about, then in cataclysm they put holiday decorations up there and it obviously wasn't a secret anymore.
RIFT is doing some pretty amazing things, can't wait to see what they think of next. this is a really cool find, and will be fun in months when new players join RIFT and have a year of all these awesome new features waiting for them to experience. wow has 7 years of content and releases a patch every 6 months, but if rift had 7 years of awesome content like it does now, releasing a new patch every 2-4 weeks, in 7 years I would probably live in telara 24/7, lol
With or without a mount, actually, though some locations are easier to reach by traveling faster/jumping farther while mounted.
In Rift there are artifacts scattered across the entire gameworld; little glowing orbs that are similar to relics from WoW's archeology. One of Trion's developers has the same kind of wanderlust as the best MMO explorer. He used every non-hack possible to reach the most obscure and dizzying locations to drop these relics for collectors. Some of them require ridiculous levels of climbing, wall-walking and ghost-edge jumping to reach.
Some screenshots (to give you an idea of what kind of geographical rape is expected of you)
