    Help with an upgrade

Hey guys, with the holidays rolling around i was thinking that its the perfect time to upgrade my computer ( call me greedy, i call me smart) I currently have an Alienware M17x But its really only slightly better than a non-gaming desktop computer would be, around 30 fps in wow with around good graphics. I was thinking about getting This But can't really tell how much better it would be, also, if that build is worth it, any suggestions for good, reasonably priced monitors?

I cannot believe they dare call that computer a gaming computer.... INTEGRATED Intel HD Graphics 2000? /barf

It would be worse than your Alienware you have right now, by a good deal too.

    What is your budget?

Okay, do you have any interest in learning the very fun (and I mean that) art of putting a computer together? You can get so much more with your money.

What Delt said. That's not a gaming computer, it's more of a build waiting for a video card.

There's a few build guides on these forums for price/performance points. I don't think they're stickied but I you should be able to find them with a simple search. Start there and use those a template imo.

He hasn't updated the HDD prices and these builds don't count a Windows disc, so you could look at the $650 build, add about $100 for the HDD, add $100 for Windows 7. Can always drop down to a i3-210 to save a good chunk of cash, if you did that you could maybe drop down to the 430w Antec PSU in the $550 build.

Never built a computer before, seems like a lot of work, which i'm okay with, just that i feel like i would mess it up

I'd put it at about 7 hours of work for first-timers, depending on how much stuff you have - plus you have to take everything out of their packaging, make sure you get your cabling done, but honestly, computer hardware pieces are built so well and fool-proof that to actually mess anything up and have a real problem is very unlikely. Like if you get some cable incorrect, more than likely the computer simply will not turn on. :P

Plus you have the nice benefit of having the PSU cables be almost impossible to plug into places they aren't supposed to plug into.
