    Graphics Card Upgrade

I have a friend who wants to play SWTOR with me at a more optimal graphics setting. I told her I would help her replace her card if she bought one. However, I haven't built a computer since 2006 and some things I am just not sure on. She has an INTEL H57 Mobo with integrated graphics (Gateway dx4840-11e is what she bought).

If she bought something like an Radeon 6670 I am not sure if it has the pci-E 2.1x16 slots. I have searched but cant find any info. Do those mobos for the core i3-i7 have the correct slots to add a dedicated card and just disable the onboard?

    Thanks

She will buy a new comp in the spring but needs something to tide her over if possible.

here it says "With compatible hardware and software (sold separately), you can even experience the immersive world of 3D in your games and movies."

this seems to imply that it has the correct slot

weird, doesn't even list that model here

    found the spec page!

    this pretty much confirms it

Thank you so much. Time to card shop I guess. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd look for a new power supply as well. Even the 500W unit that Gateway put in is likely the lowest-bidder OEM provider that a lot of manufacturers likely use, and I wouldn't trust their 300W unit with any dedicated card at all.

IF the computer has the 500W variant then I'd say you can upgrade to any GPU that doesn't require a PCI-E power connector. If you find one that does, I'd recommend a new PSU even if the Gateway has a PCI-E power connector.
    Super casual.
