SWTOR, graphics better than WoW, Rift?

Hi,

just curious. I know the art style in SWTOR is similar to WoW, but are the graphics of a higher quality?

Better than say, Rift's for example? Models have higher polygon count, what are the animations like, etc?

Really curious as I haven't really been able to see much from the YouTube videos.

I find myself becoming more excited to see the game, after playing Mass Effect the last few days, even though I originally didn't think I'd be interested.

If any of you guys playing the release can break away and give me an opinion, or a REALLY high res pretty screen shot of the release version at max detail, I would be most grateful.

Wow comes nowhere close to Rift or SWTOR. In case of pure graphics I'd say Rift is slightly better...

People like pretty things over ugly things. This has been known pretty much since the dawn of time.

And when it comes to a virtual world, better graphics can mean better immersion, which in turn can mean a much more satisfying gaming experience.

WoW's graphics are terrible, why even use those as a measuring stick?

On a crap PC like mine Wow actually looks nicer than SWOTOR for character models - as the turned down detail textures are eye bleedingly ugly in my personal opinion. Trees and landscapes look nicer in SWOTOR. Although it is years ahead of wow so it should do!

Rift looks quite nice on my PC, so i would probably place rift top - but this is a highly subjective opinion clouded by my bad pc to be fair :<

Ah, I play Rift on-and-off. Tried going back to WoW, graphics have reached a level where they do matter. I suffer "pixelation" disease when I look at WoW. Just played too many other games that look better. Also, for me, Rift brings out content fast and furious, so there always seems to be something new or just around the corner when I log in. Thx for the input.

Edit: I'm hardly a "young" generation. I'm 39

Been playing computer games since 1981. It's hard to look back with nostalgia once you've seen better.

WoW has a different art style entirely... not sure you can really compare them. Rift is more comparable and seems to have better graphics than TOR. However TOR's animations are rather impressive.

Because most older gamers were introduced with games like frogger, pac-man, and super mario bros. This younger generation of gamers were introduced with xbox and playstation. I really stopped caring about graphics about the same time they started playing. I actually prefer WoW type graphics because, as crazy as it sounds, I think realistic graphics kills some of the whole "video game" experience.

Mike Tyson's Punch-out is better than 90% of the games that come out today.

Yeah, that's my opinion. Those shovel hands, etc. Very low polygon count. Also, the orc starting area is so damn depressing.

Technically it has "better" graphics but the worlds all have the same bland look, it's pretty empty and many flat surfaces, character models are pretty slim aswell, not much armor or anything that isnt just a texture change.

sorry, but SWTOR's graphics are far superior to those other 2 games.

just look at the way trees are created in the games. in TOR, they look like actual trees, real branches, individual leaves, etc.. in wow and rift, its just a 4-5 sided trunk with flat textures thrown all over it at different angles that makes it appear to have foliage.
