Replacing Laptop Optical Drive with HDD (HP dv6500) Help!

I'm trying to replace my optical drive bay with a HDD but can't figure out what size HDD caddy tray to use. Has anyone done this before?
    Laptop is an HP dv6500

That notebook should be using the standard 12.7mm bay. Only notebooks under 11~ inches use the smaller 9.5mm bays. You could simply just remove your current disc drive and measure it yourself to be sure.

Other than that, optical bays in notebooks have been standardized for a long time. You'll be fine.

I'm quite sure that most laptops use a 2,5'' HDD or SSD. Smaller ones might use a 1,8''.

Im pretty sure its standard aswell but just take it out and measure it.
For 99% its being hold in place by just 1 screw at the bottom. There will be small circular sign next to the screw (representing cd obviously :P).
