urgh. it's been a while since i listened to brokencyde and i'd forgotten how awful they are, so i tried to remind myself...made it 15 seconds into that video before i felt an overpowering urge to strangle something small and helpless. crunkcore (don't ask, i'm just going by what wikipedia says brokencyde are) doesn't sound quite as bad as pornogrind, but at least the latter is often funny in their deliberate over-the-topness. those obnoxious teenagers with large, ridiculously colored hair have no redeeming qualities.

Black Veil Brides

Yea I saw these live at the Download Festival this year, there’s a lot of hype around them but they just sound so dated, they are a cross between Kiss, Avenged Sevenfold, Aiden and 2004 (the year). No offence to Kiss fans I love Kiss,

But their image aside they sound like something so manufactured, they kind of remind me of a heavier Aiden (yea you remember them?) where they try to express themselves more with their image rather than their music.

Maybe I am being to harsh, I mean after all I think I have liked one song they did and even that wasn’t that great. Its just a band trying to capture the spirit of 2004 when maybe this band might have been accepted with all the other bands like them coming out then.

They are not original, they’re music at best is “okay” and they are over-hyped in rock magazines. I cant remember since My chemical romance that I have seen so much hype for a band. I have no problem with hype trust me, I actually liked My chemical romance when they came out in 2002 where they back then didn’t have none of that emo stigma attached to them (god a hate labels) but at least MCR were in at the front of the whole “emo” bubble that was coming out at the time. With BVB its just like they missed the train and arrived late.

I am not applying that BVB are in any way “emo” because for one I hate that whole genre use, mainly because from 2002 - 2007 it got so out of hand that no matter what you did it was classed as emo. I wasn’t even aware of what emo was until 2005, and before any of you ask I wasn’t an emo kid, I just have a wide range of musical taste, from Phil Collins to Manowar as one example but I am getting off track

You just know BVB have an audience to try and capture, I could say they are trying to appeal to a female market, or lonely teenage boys who are bouncing off walls, but I don’t see it. Mostly teens who want to get into Rock music and don’t want to get into any mature bands and see this as a stepping stone I don’t know.

Maybe with me being 28 years old I am just speaking like an old man, but I personally don’t see anything in this band, at all, their music is dated, their look has been done, and its just so bland.

I suppose its just personal taste but even lyrically I find nothing that I can feel an sense of worth to.
