and not make him shave his head?
and not make him shave his head?
Did I miss something? Didn't look like he was in the Military and besides this is Star Wars, why should it matter? :P
My Trooper's the head of the most elite squadron in the Republic, and he's got a full head of hair.
i know, but if the writers wanna make a character who's basically an "army guy" make him look like one. like in movies we always see war heroes who are shaved. and also his accent doesnt hit him and his hair. he has a kinda southern US accent but when i first met him, i thought he was gonna sound like a jamaican.
I don't think the typical Military Standards apply to the Galactic Republic.
they medically scan all parasites off your head
When you think of the typical Military Standards you don't think of Twi'leks with lekuu either. The point I was making was, in this type of Sci-Fi fantasy, the clean shaven, short hair, standards that we think of in the US/EU and other parts of the world, don't really apply to an entire fictional Galaxy. I mean, I'm in the US Army and it doesn't phase me one bit. At least in this game they got the Salute animations down right.
i get what you're saying, but the point I'm trying to make is his accent and backround doesn't fit his hair. You would never associate someone from the south as someone who might have dreadlocks. I know there are alot of people in the south, but typically in the media you would never see farmboys or southerners with dreadlocks.

Holy crap have you seen Star Wars Episodes IV-VI? They all had bad long late 1960s/early 1980s haircuts and look sooooo stupid. (and I was 5 when Episode IV came out so I can say that.)
It's always bothered me about the movies. In today's (US anyway) armed forces, your hair must be within regulation length and there can be no beards. SWTOR doesn't bother me too badly since they set their precedents (unfortunate as they are) in the movies.
NO BEARDS ?! well its not surprise you're shit at fighting wars then (i'm kidding)
Mannoroth nodded. "The warrior shows much promise... I would see more of his kind, learn their potential..." WoTA
gee thx Brox...
Well, despite what some of you may believe... the "must have short hair in the military" thing is not always the case.
For instance, people in the US Army and Marine Special Forces are in fact allowed to have beards and long hair due to the fact that they need to be able to blend in while "under cover" with the common population in other countries during war (not so easy to do when you've got a shaved head and clean shaven face).

Also, it's a game... you have no idea what their policies on that kind of thing are.
Note:this was a recent change, made for the war in Afghanistan. (I believe it has been deauthorized as of late, but will resurface if the need for it arises again)

This is not entirely true. The special forces operating in Afghanistan and Iraq were allowed to grow their beards to better fit in with the native population. Regular enlisted must abide by regulation but it's not an end all be all, there are exceptions. Also it's was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away yo
Edit: Should have read the whole thread because I just parroted the person above me
there's plenty of armies that let you grow beards, mustaches, sideburns and have longer hair. i mean have you ever seen pics of special forces guys on tour in afghanistan? full fucking beards and long hair. please dont generalize based on what you see in movies or if you're a chairforce commando.
canadian engineers were allowed to grow full beards even when they were at home. look up the pioneers.

Before the camps, I regarded the existence of nationality as something that shouldn’t be noticed - nationality did not really exist, only humanity. But in the camps one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity - too bad for you -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
So you're surprised that a made up, fictional character in a made up fictional universe is not up to the real world military standards? Shocking indeed.
As previous posters has explained, this is not real life, this is Star Wars. Different military rules.
