    First build fixed - lesson learned...

    I7 2600k with stock cooler = fail.

    CPU would spike up to 95 then shutdown during load. Idle temps around. 65 degrees

    Add the coolermaster hyper 212 evo

    CPU during skyrim on ultra doesn't go over 45 under lead. 29 during idle

    Sounds more like you not fitting it correctly, 'cause if this was normal then you'd have thousands of people posting it up and forums exploding because of it.

    Not saying that using a different cooler over the stock cooler is a bad choice ofc.

    But yes aftermarket cooler is a good choice. Definitely sounds like it was fitted correctly the first time, glad you got it to work though.

    You probably mounted the cooler wrong, theres no way the hyper 212 outperforms it that much.
