    Rift trial problem..

    Hello, I recently decided to try rift out.. (played it in the beta). So I went to download the client and once I launched it I had to update the game and everytime I would try it said something similar to "cannot recover at this time please try in a few minutes" it was error "1012"

    Anyone know anything about this? I would really like to try the game again.

    I searched google and the official rift forums, sounds like a couple people had the problem. what I gather is it's something to do with the launcher, maybe updating an earlier patch, or part of an earlier patch was deleted in the process of updating to a more recent patch. I haven't had this problem, but then I'm just updating patches 1.6.x as they are released. my guess is there's a gap somewhere in 1.5 or before that 1.6 can't write over. just a guess though. only heard of a couple people having trouble as they're starting to download the game, maybe its an issue with the free trial.

    edit: cant find "error 1012" but I found some random "error 1024" and "error 1002" LOL

    best bet to ask tech support, someone else had a problem downloading the launcher as well

    "the 1012 error can indeed be caused by a proxy. though it can also be caused by a variety of other network issues. things like firewalls, antivirus, spyware/popup blockers, etc. can also cause you to see this."
