are beta graphics drivers safe?

i updated my drivers to 290.53 beta drivers yesterday by following the guide on http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1174372&mpage=1. so far, i'm not having any issues, and i can actually run several games at better settings (including arkham city and skyrim). yet, i'm wondering if it wouldn't have been better to wait for the next WHQL release, or even install 285.62 instead.

i'm not having any issues with drivers crashing or windows blocking yet, so i'm still okay for now, but can beta drivers cause issues?

They're mostly safe, but if you run into issues, suspect those first.
