I don't see how the first one would help at all?

I agree with the second two, especially #2. But I don't think #1 will make roads safer in the long run.

Faster and safer roads would also help the US economy.

Except it's been proven to make roads safer. So safe that blind people are able to cross the roads without guidance.

Turns out that when you take away signs, drivers are able to focus on each other and the environment instead of speed limits and traffic lights. Fatalities and accidents even at the formerly riskiest intersections dropped to near zero in towns.

The German autobahns famously have no speed limits and have better safety records than highways in the United States and most of Europe.

I am from the Netherlands and I have not yet seen that they were removing signs though. Roundabouts are truely better though.

Oh yes I have. I find them quite smooth and efficient. My town actually has 4 roundabouts. I wish we had one for every intersection. They're safer and more efficient.

Roundabouts are great, quite a few around my college.

I was about to jump on you until I read that... Good thing I read that ...

Anyways, yeah, that was an intersting read, I am surprised about the lack of Roundabouts on America, here you can find one almost everywhere.

Because they're a pain in the ass when trying to figure out who has right of way.

except when the power knocks out the traffic lights the number of accidents of major intersections goes up... so not really sure how you figure having no traffic lights would help a major intersection...

    Uhh...

People already in the circle have the right of way. A proper roundabout has 2 lanes to make merging easier.

Only with small roundabouts, and then you simply give way to the right unless they are giving way to their right. It's simply who steps on the gas first in that situation.

While removing signs and lines may make roads safer, I imagine it will make driving infinitely more stressful, having to constantly make sure that the people ahead aren't veering out of 'lane' in front of you or stopping too far forward at a junction etc.

The last two only really apply to America, here in Britain roundabouts are the norm.

Well the title DOES refer to "America's roads" :P

A roundabout won't change the fact that some stupid dipshit won't be paying attention and will enter it when there's other cars coming straight at him.
