basically, every night before I fall asleep, currently i take my 7 year old PSP and browse some ... adult fiction (and let's leave it at that, shall we?). i use my PSP mostly to protect my PC from malware, as there is very little malware that's PSP compatible. now, the problem i have is that my PSP is getting a bit old and starts to deteriorate. more precisely, it's getting slow on loading pages, doesn't support most video codecs, has several dead pixels and scratches, and the mouse pointer is having a life of its own. in addition, the disk that's used as analogue joystick is long gone.
what i'm looking for is a cheap replacement with wireless internet capacity that supports flash. and that's it. I don't need one of those monochrome e-readers, i don't need a smartphone, i don't need a netbook, PS Vita or 3DS, just something that can browse the internet reasonably well. all i need is basically something that fits in 1 hand, with WiFi, a browser that supports flash and has support for codecs, and that's about it.
edit: forgot something. the thing needs an orientation lock, i.e. that the on-screen data isn't automatically placed horizontally when i tilt the device 90 degrees.

Buy a new TV? Uncertain how well developed they are, but most sites should be accessible (do not have one myself).

Sony Mylo and an Archos 5 come to mind, but those are old pre-ipad geek gadgets and i doubt you can find them new anymore

a "new" psp perhaps? Won't cost a shit, and if updated properly it should handle the stuff you need it to?

In Sweden they cost about €150 btw, and that's for one of those fancy "PSP Go". I odn't know the diff between a regular psp and a go one but they are cheap as hell now anyways =P

Aside from that any handheld will get you going (cwutIdidthar) from a basic smartphone to a kindle fire (~$200ish?)Apply blizzards model to any other subscription service,you'd be outraged:

Ipod Touch? works fine for the job and the screen is reasonable. You can find several pages that are not using FLASH to display the videos.

i'm in the same boat. he eliminated every viable option aside from a small android tablet.

well, the reason I didn't want one of those monochrome e-readers (others are fine though) is because those might be problematic with websites that are light on dark. if there are full color e-readers that have internet capacity, those would be fine.
i didn't want a smartphone because i don't need the phone capacity (which only makes it more expensive).
a 3DS or a netbook is pretty unwieldy and big.
and a Vita is too expensive. the reason i asked this is because i want something cheap, i.e. less than 100 EUR. i don't even know if such a thing exists.

Your not gona get malware from every pron site, you dont get malware from 4chan, people complain about this shit to often, i scan maby once every 3 months and trust me im no angel when surfing the web. Your not gona find something for cheap that does the things you want, everything is expensive, infact the psp is the cheapest one i can think of. Originally Posted by nzall

The poster above me speaks the truth. I think I'd actually find it hard to find a site that would give me a virus / malware. Just don't install things or download stuff with unfamiliar extensions.

Meh, I was going to say Ipod Touch... but yeah...
It's what I've used for 2 years now, but I'm planning on switching to my I8150 when it arrives...
Anyway, an Ipod Touch is too expensive, supports no flash (I don't really miss it tbh) so it's out of the question, but it DOES work great... A small android tablet will indeed be what you need, but the thing is: You don't know what the performance is going to be like. I don't know what stuff they put in a less then 100$ device, but I doubt you'll find one powerful enough to run flash...
If you watch out with DLing stuff and have an anti virus that's at least half decent you don't ever have to worry... Originally Posted by nzall

i tried to discuss this as tasteful and mature as possible, and besides, we're not all 60 year old prudes. if you can't handle a bit of innuendo, i'd recommend to just leave this thread.

I got my daughter a Coby 7127 for Xmas and its great. I play on it once and awhile and I'm very pleased. I can pretty much access everything on the internet w/out a problem and it was pretty cheap.
