BiS Melee Weapon (for real life!!)

So guys. Let's say the government made you the best possible melee weapon using today's technology and unlimited funds. What do you think it would be made out of? Classic metal? What about the shape - maybe a sword? I have to imagine it would be for fighting people armored with bulletproof vests. Possibly riot shields too. What do u guys think it would be?

With today's technology? Probably a long staff or rod that works like a tazer-gun and has elongated points to puncture clothing.

Star Wars electrostaff? I vote hookbaldes. Simple, efficient, and versatile.

How far off are we from making a working lightsaber?

With today's technology and unlimited funds, I'd say a chainsaw modified for longer range. Think of a staff with a buzzsaw at the end.

on the show "deadliest warrior", the dude has a spiked flail and it was pretty impressive. If your talking about someone in kevlar, a blunt weapon is probably more effective than a sword because the force could break bones. If you're just gonna sneak up on someone, you could be just as effective with a knife vs. a sword. The parameters mean everything.

Does a very long stick with a land mine tied to the end count? If it does, that's my choice.

    Cough, Warhammer 40K

And an actual lightsaber, not with how some people treat them. A laser would just keep going on and on and on. Maybe a super heated rod or some such?

I came into this thread expecting someone to mention Chuck Norris' fists, but I came out disappointed.

Your signature is very ironic. OT, Probably a cross between everything in this thread, maybe a retractable sword that is attached to your hands that can fire electricity, AND bullets/knives? far fetched i know, but its the government xD

If the government was making a weapon, gas would be a better choice. They have gas that can bypass gas masks, like the vomit-enducing one.

For everything else, clubs and axes

You'd be amazed what you can do with a big frying pan. It blocks, It parries, it smashes.
