I have my OS on the SSD I have currently in my rig, but i am looking to add a second SSD, it would be primarily for gaming and possibly some video editing. Would a high sequential write speed be important for such a drive or would the read speed be the most important?
I am looking to spend about $100-140 and live in the U.S.. I saw tomshardware had their monthly review on SSDs and they were saying that for $140 the OCZ Vertex 3 90GB was a good buy.
Also, would anyone recommend waiting for the next line of SSDs to come out so the price of the older SSDs drop, or the newer ones bring faster write/read numbers?
Don't edit video on an SSD. You write too much to it, and kill both it's write life and it's storage space. With that in mind, just snag a Vertex 3 that you were talking about. Toss some games on it and enjoy. I have a 120GB Mushkin Chronos and it fits my OS and games. Not sure why other people have so much trouble.
