    WoW - 4.3.2 File Optimization Results

    Before
    Size: 27.1 GB
    Size on Disk: 26.3 GB

    After
    Size: 22.5GB
    Size on Disk: 21.8 GB

    Pretty decent results =)

    You can delete your Data/Cache folder to get it down to ~15GB. It will rebuild some over time, but so far mine isn't anywhere near as big.

    Great idea, I'd be willing to bet all the people who are bitching about having to download huge amounts after optimizing are the ones who deleted there cache.

    good news for my ssd!

    only had to download a small amount, whole process of optimising and downloading was about 14 minutes.

    Could anyone please tell me exactly what it is this optimizer is doing? Just deleting old patch content?

    BUT... i have to redownload 1,2-1,3gb I guess it isn't the patch allone but some missing files?

    It quite sucks with a 2k internet... bet i have to wait the whole day -.-

    im assuming it is like a disk defragmentation, but just on the wow files? but im just guessing:P

    It has been stated in a blue post a while back.

    The way WoW is being patch at the moment it needs to have the old file and the new file before the patching can be done. With some file optimizations you won't need double the space to update any more. At the same time the optimizer will delete old unused files and so forth.

    I don't think it's doing any defragmentation though. There are better software out there for that sort of thing.

    Im sadly still waiting as its making me redownload 4.3gb - even though it works perfectly fine so god knows ?!

    Sort of. It's purging the main MPQ file of old unused stuff, or things that were never used, duplicates, etc, and is splitting stuff up into different archives. As far as I can tell anyway.

    The cache was built from local files required to play the game, so no.
