I think the major problem is - too many people got used to 'easy mode' pvp in rift. That is, excessive dmg, excessive burst, and the ability to kill almost anyone in 1-3 GCDs. Now that people actually have to use their entire ability menu, expand beyond their 1-2 button macros, and learn to play - there is going to be an adjustment period, and the bads will cry a lot.
I am astounded at how BAD pvpers are in Rift that have been running easy-mode. These guys have virtually no raid awareness, are hideous with fast changing fights, and don't even really know their classes beyond the 1-2 macros they spam. I actually had to explain to an R8 rogue the other day how to use various abilities he wasn't even bothering to use that were costing him about 300dps. <cringe>
So pardon me if I don't shed a tear over people having to actually use their skills. You know, the dots, debuffs, detaunts, purges, stuns, eradicates, interupts, and all of those good things you never use.. Well buddy? Now use em! Don't cry to me about wardens, get those purges, interupts and healing debuffs going and watch them die.
So you can't burn them down in 3 GCDs? GOOD! Now learn to fight...
