    1) Have you ever played a trooper or consular? Quite a few of their abilities, have a noticeable delay before activating, project and mortar fire being the most obvious, meanwhile their empire counter parts are instant and smooth

2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 are based on opinion, yes, but the majority ended up rolling Imperial characters for a reason.
Read the other responses in this thread to see how number 1 is wrong.

The opinions have little weight with where people rolled, as most decided before any of that info was known, what faction they were going to play. Evil lightning has always had higher numbers than the Republic ever since classes were first revealed.

    1. That part is annoying, but not a huge deal if you're not a pvp'er (and I'm not).

    2. Definitely opinion. I like my Trooper's story FAR better than my Sorc. My Sorc is 50 and I hated her so much I didn't even bother doing the last few quests. Consular wasn't overly interesting but I like the others.

    3. I suppose I don't spend enough time there to give a darn to something, because they're close enough to the same that I don't even notice.

    4. Eh, I hated Taris on both sides. The only benefit to Empire side is that you have a mount to get around. Otherwise the leveling experience is pretty much the same. You just flip-flop Taris and Balmorra based on side.

    5. Haven't dealt with the higher level ones enough to weigh in.

    6. Eh, opinion. I'd rather be in Consular gear than Sorc gear personally.

    7. At launch, I agree. Currently I've been noticing a lot of people rolling new alts on Republic side. Grouping is never an issue for me.

    8. I suppose that's just opinion also, but my opinion is that you're nuts. Playing my Empire toons all the light side choices make me feel Bipolar and the dark side ones like a Sociopath. Republic choices really feel more like good or bad.

My guardian has armor that looks like traditional plate mail. The lower level stuff is mostly robes but as you get higher level you find more variety in gear.

Are we playing the same game?

Sith stories are idiotic. The dark side choices are comical levels of evil; "Set the prisoners free" (light side) or "Freebase kittens with Darth Kuntpunch" (dark side). Republic choices at least have a sense of subtlety. Sith quests are about as one-dimensional, unrealistic, and bad as the villains of 80s cartoons. I expect to meet Darth Mumm-Ra and Grand Moff Destro any God damn day now.

Don't put so much faith in your EU lore.

Personally, I always get my advice from people on web forums who sling around gay as an adjective.

The Empire narratives and acting are indeed though miles better. They just push for too much status quo with the Republic and if you aren't playing the game for a sense of antiqued fandom then the writing just doesn't go as far as the Empire which actually has some nuance and creativity injected into it.

On kinrath spider the balance is ridiculously out of whack. Primetime expect to see about 150-200 in fleet. Republic. Less than 75 usually. I ended up rerolling since there's no use paying $15 for a single player game.

    Wrong except

2 to 6 are opinion pieces. I enjoy my stories so far and I enjoy my republic characters.

    1. Mechanics on both factions are mirrors of each other, the only difference is aesthetics, may feel like more lag but it really isn't its just the way the graphics are done, mechanically they are the same.
This is entirely false. Try Project vs Shock, try Trooper Mortar Volley to Death From Above.

Project has an animation time that makes it so the damage doesn't hit on cast. It's quite annoying for interrupts in PvP and for the timing of my Shadow's proc.

I haven't done Death From Above, but Mortar Volley only hits the first time 1/2 through the channel, followed by 2 more damage thick, the third being AFTER you have finished channeling.

Although this thread is just flame bait I will say I will probably never roll Empire.

Republic on my server (Infinite Empire) are quite mature and due to not having any LFR / LFD system, nor cross server pvp everyone conducts themselves quite well and we are developing quite the community. Those who act like asses will be known as one quite fast and will get black listed from most groups.

Heck even Ilum is starting to get more active , yesterday there was a 25v25 battle and got my daily done in like 5 minutes.

Are there ability delays ? Yes, but I have learned to live with them, they will be fixed eventually.

I tried playing empire and honestly didn't like it. First, I hated the bland and boring "generic evil" story. Republic doesn't feel like good guys, it has depth. Empire feels awfully stereotypical. Second, I like the underdog. Somehow, I can't stand playing more populated side. This is why I stuck to Horde in WoW, this is why I stick to Republic.

Some friends and I rerolled rep recently and are having a blast. An end to nothing but huttball, instant pvp queues and not being on the Zerg herd side I'm finding pugs and pvp much better. I loved playing my imp characters but am glad we rerolled

Besides the fact that it looks like Bioware spent more time on Imperials (because 90% of the population jumps all over the sith).. I like being the underdog, and I loved my class story.

On Hedarr Soongh, its about a 4:1 ratio of empire to reps. But, I think we have one of the strongest republic pvp base around... About 60% good/40% fail. (Horray for "bucket list of bad players" ;D) as we own the hell out of Illum, except when they zerg us and our base is bugged (we haven't had cannons in 3 weeks almost..)

I love my sage, over any sorc.
Even thought my dress is ugly, being a priest and mage forever.. gets you used to it.
If you really don't want to wear a dress, off-set it. derp.

I like to protect the galaxy against monsters, e.g. the Empire. Also I don't see how the Empire story is better? I mean all it is, is "OH LOOK YOU PISSED ME OFF IMMA KILL YOU NOW" That's what it was for me when I tried Empire.

I'll continue to take on 2-3 Sith at a time and win, while everyone else goes to the Empire, but be warned...

The faction imbalance is the only valid point you make, and this will hopefully correct itself over time.

There are of course pros and cons to playing either faction, most of them being matters of opinion. I personally think the PvE Sorcerer set makes you look like an unemployed clown unable to afford any coloured fabrics for his outfit. The Sith Inquisitor story is fairly dull for large amounts of its course (hey bring me 4 artifact fragments trololol).

One of the Imp dailies is bugged. Empire Dark side choices are less Emperor Palpatine/Darth Vader and more Patrick Bateman/Skeletor. Sith are twats to you. Huttball is all very well unless its 90% of the warzones you get.

    Blablabla

Also "literally" makes no sense in the context you put it in.

Have they not fixed that annoying commando bug where it goes 1.5 secs into the channel time for mortar strike to go off? I play both empire and republic. I find the lag less noticeable for the bounty hunters. I wish they would fix it already because I love my commando MOAR!

The only thing the OP has accurate is the ability delay for JCs compared to SIs. The rest is opinion or wrong.

No, the animation still starts at around 1.5~secs during the cast, but the thing is you can CANCEL it 2 seconds into the cast and start your next ability, and all 3 hits will still go off.
