What race will your first character be?

depending on the racials - i know that they'll only be fun racials, but it'll still be key to what i choose, because i cant decide between human, sylvari and norn - but probably human mesmer

I really wouldn't be deciding to much on the racials because, as you already said, they will be fairly weak. They perhaps might help with leveling though.
I don't know if you're already aware of this, but some racials are already known (link).

I honestly have no idea anymore. At first I wanted my thief to be human, I love their city and whole feel of the Humans. On the other hand I think Norn are awesome, I love the whole spirit animal thing, and how they are the tribal race of the game. The Sylvari are like a combination of my two favorite races in wow, undead and night elf; they are the new race of the game trying to find their place in the world and have this mystical thing about them.

I guess it will all end up how they look in the end, If Norn are too big for my taste in a thief then it goes down to which race I think looks best.

I might be inclined towards Sylvari.

I got nothing against Asura, but they just don't fit with my tastes as much as the other races do.
They are a welcome addition to the variety of the world, however.

Swap Charr and Asura in your sentences and you've got me down. Charr are very unappealing to me. I'd like a Heket though!
