A found an unidentified bug. it's gross. HELP

UPDATE: Well, I emailed the guys at whats that bug and they got back to me this morning "It appears to be a predatory and beneficial ground beetle."



If you don't like bugs, don't click the link. I have searched online and I can't find anything that's an exact match to this bug. At first I thought it was some sort of cockroach but I'm not sure because it seems too long and skinny and the color is off.

Anyone know what it is?

It's not a roach at least. They don't have shell-protected wings like this one have.

Its not a roach. Roaches are easily identifiable by their long antennae. The antennae on this bug are too short. Its just some sort of beetle.

It's a kind of beetle - either a meal (grain) beetle or a "powderpost" beetle. It's way too small to be a roach, and roaches have long antennae. The former kind of beetle is indicative of mold somewhere in your house, the latter would be wood and you'd be able to see tiny holes in your baseboards.

I don't think those white balls are eggs, but rather a parasitic fungus called Cordyceps. Google it, it's fascinating.

Hrm, makes sense. We did find mold 10 feet from where I found teh dead body of the bug, also we have a leaky sink on our bedroom's bathroom.

That's like someone saying "I thought this was a human but it was a bit too skinny" when they find a dead model. I'm sure someone here will find a fancy scientific name for it, but all it is is a nasty bug that you should kill.
