Do you have any link to show how your accent sounds like?

At least it's not New Jersey...

I don't know about my accent. After I moved back from New York, people here (Minnesota) said I had developed a slight NYC accent. I didn't notice changing how I talk, though.

I definitely lost my Minnesota Nice. I learned that being rude can actually be polite. Regennis probably knows what I mean by that.

Being rude in NY to another NY'er is considered polite lol To other people in the country, they usually look down upon it. A common phase is "Have a nice day, asshole" but it honestly is a phrase of endearment lol

On the other hand, there was a study a while back that ranked NYC as the most polite city in the US. I've never seen people elsewhere go so far out of their way to hold a door for someone, for example.

That's true. We might have atrocious mouths, but when someone is in need or asks for help we are a lot nicer than people expect. I think a big problem is tourists are here and sometimes just ask the wrong person for something. I mean, some of us here walking the streets are working full long days so when we walk out of the office and have to deal with mobs of tourists, we can be quick to snap.
