    Question Chris Brown at Grammys?

Question is really simple: should people be so quick to forgive a violent man? It is a fact that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend and pleaded guilty:

In August 2009, Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 hours of community service after pleading guilty to felony assault.

The photos were out showing his handy-work a few days later. This was some real fighting.

The whole thing seems like it is just a big Hollywood stunt. Three years after the assault and they schedule Brown and Rhianna to both perform? Really!?

The women they abuse often forgive them the quickest. If Rhianna has forgiven him should the rest of society? I for one say no. That man knew exactly what he was doing when he was punching that woman. In my experience, a guy will either hit a woman or they won't. There are no accidents when the man's fist hits the woman. He meant that shit and obviously the stop sign that most guys have in their brain is obviously not in Brown's.

So now here we are about to place both parties involved back on the same stage that all of this happened right before in 2009. Is this all just some publicity sham?

If Rhianna wants to forgive the guy that is her choice. I will never forget a guy that does that to a woman. That is breaking the man code. You do not hit women. I found out about a friend of mine who was abusing his girlfriend and I have stopped associating with the guy. I want nothing to do in any way shape or form with a guy that punches women in the face. Why is society so quick to let this guy off the hook? Or was this whole thing some bizarre publicity stunt to boost both performers' careers?

I am baffled. Is our society quick to forget or just morally clueless?

    - I should not have said never forgive. People do change. That was poor choice of words. As well as women beating being lowest form of man. Many worse evils.

    - Also, just imagine if this happened to your mother or your sister. I come from a family with two sisters, so maybe that impacts how I see it.

I will not be surprised with these sorts of responses. I just hope that you are in grade school and that it is not the attitude of any grown man that it is acceptable to beat on women. This is not the WWE and in real life men are stronger than women. If you can't take a beating from a woman without resorting to violence, then you are not a man.

Of course you do not have to stay with a woman that attacks you, but unless she is literally putting your life in danger there is no excuse.

He's not running for office or an honorable judge, he's a celebrity. I seriously do not give one fuck of care that he hit someone. I cannot give any less amount of fuck, about him and his music for that matter.

Agreed. I didn't want to say it, but OP does seem extremely sexist, and a person who lets anyone hurt them is a moron whether they are a woman or not.

So because he is not running for office he has no moral standards to abide by? I guess if you can sing and dance you can get away with anything - or play sports.

Utter nonsense, i have seen women soldiers break bones in a fight. Seen the size of some women? Anyone that stands there and takes a beating just to prove himself a man is a fool.

By your logic you'd not be allowed to hit a physically weak man. Hypocracy at its best.

Apparently, he's unable to distinguish between ABUSE and just simple self-defense. He's also been conditioned to think women are perfect, so you should never give them proper retaliation. Yeah, it sounds real manly to me to just take a beating from a woman because of her gender.

I'm with him that physical abuse is a terrible thing and shouldn't be tolerated, but that's different from something like slapping someone. In fact, it's downright disrespectful to real victims. I really don't know where this medievial kind of thinking comes from, really.

I don't know, it would depend on the woman that's hitting me.

    Where's the "I don't care" option :/

As long as you're famous people don't give what you did, look at Micheal Jackson, Kobe Briant, ect.

He made a horrible mistake, was made to pay for it under societys rules, and got counselling and punished. He and everyone else should attempt to move on with their lives as best they can, you can't punish someone forever for something under normal circumstances.

I write this as someone who has seen the results of much worse domestic violence than this and still forgiven, accepted the person has changed and learnt, and moved on with my life since. It's not up to some fans of rihannas, or some angry forum goers to decide how long someone should be punished for a transgression.

I see this turning into a debate about whether it is right or not to beat someone, not about the actual point - whether that person should be punished indefinately by society for their mistake.

Are you going to hold that over his head for the rest of his/your life? Get over it. He paid for it by losing his career, at least for a while, and if he ever does it again it will only be worse.

So if there is a average joe who never goes to the gym and doesn't do any sort of weights and he's getting beat on by a female who you can clearly see works out you would just watch and if he threw a punch in self defense you would criticize him?

I feel like people go so far not to be sexist toward women that they are actually sexist against men.
