Black - Purple - Red is much less raid damage than Black - Red - Yellow. You just need a good damage reduction cooldown. Like I said, Spirit Link is great for this combo if you have a R. Shaman.

Get the Yor'Sahj ooze addon and configure it, you will never have issues ever again, eventually you wont even need it.
It has pre-configued normal/LFR and HC settings.
We pop hero on double add phase(I do, while our Mage builds up his aoe) Thus we ignore the pre-configure HC setting in the addon that tells us to pop it during another 'uncomfertable' ooze combo.
You will get a 'feel' of where your raids weakness lies and use such CDs as hero, during that ooze combination.

the locks and mages are geting nuked by them
Then your tank isn't tanking them. They don't have their fixate 100% of the time, occasionally they follow a normal aggro table and will instagib a clothie if your tank has been lazy and hasn't AoEed them himself.

Raid damage isn't really an issue, healers should be able to manage especially after the 5% nerf. The problem is when healing is restricted by purple and some guy gets boned by the adds, it's a risky combo due to the random and spiky nature of the add damage combined with red which only makes for more spikes on people. It's much safer to just kill purple and let your healers open up properly while using raid cds to survive the first time then heroism to survive another.

You can't just say "raid damage isn't an issue" and move on. Clearly it is, there's a dozen Yor help threads each week and 99% of them struggle with the raid damage that supposedly isn't an issue.

There's also guilds that still struggle with enrage and so the 2nd set of adds is quite an issue as well.

And finally the damage from red+black+purple isn't nearly as spiky as you think if handled right. The adds fixate on different targets and can be tanked pre-fixate, they also die fast. And you can choose who red targets with proper positioning. So while that phase is hard it's debatable whether it's harder than the simple spam AoE heal one. And it's certainly more optimal since you save on both mana and DPS time.
