Sounds like a great book you are reading there, but you forgot to link the title -
but Seriously, Never going to happen- what would we be fighting for? Coffee? oil ? New trainers ?
Please search the forums before posting, there are already a couple threads about this.
I can't hardly imagine China or Russia siding with Iran, but then again, what the heck do I know!
WW3 Unlikely
That being said though it is a great deal more possible then what your average citizen thinks. I am fortunate enough to have some insight into this due to my chosen career field.
A war with Iran is almost inevitable.
It isn't like when we dealt with Russia during the Cold War, the fear of mutually assured destruction preventing anyone from pressing that big red button. If Iran comes into possession of a nuclear weapon they will use it, and have even said as much, (and even if they don't it will create a nuclear arms race between Iran, Israel, Egypt and Saudia Arabia). Lets take a area of the world that has been in a state of constant war and let them have the weapons to end all weapons... Bad Idea.
So more then likely Israel will strike the plants in Iran.
At this time Russia and China both say they will support Iran.
Israel at this time can not count on U.S. support due to our current administration, however I would wager that once Israel strikes the U.S. will back them.
This combined with the fact that has been reported (although debated) in international new papers but none in the U.S., that Iran is building a missile site in Venezuela with the capabilities of launching medium range missiles that could be armed with a nuclear war head.
Medium range missiles have a range between 1k to 3k kilometers, this could give them the ability to strike on U.S. soil (most likely Florida).
So in conclusion, in my humble opinion we have two scenarios that are likely.
1. Israel strikes Iran, and is then supported by the U.S. military and government while China and Russia are supporting Iran. Placing us into a "New Cold War" scenario with the Middle East being the spot where the war is actually waged. All coming to a head with Venezuela ( if reports are true ) much like the Cuban Missile crisis bringing us to the brink of WW3.
2. Straight up WW3
Then of course there is the possibility that, we let Iran get nukes. Iran then nukes Israel, then Israel unleashes on them (remember Israel is a nuclear power and have superior nuclear arms, cause we gave them to them), and we have a all out Nuclear war in the Middle East. While the U.S. and the rest of the world look on in shock cause we didn't do anything to stop it.
1. Even though USA would most likely backup Israel (probably without direct intervention), I'm not too sure China or Russia would militarily support Iran. That's not in their interest.
Their veto was completely understandable from their point of view, if you consider the current state of politics there, they just couldn't do otherwise ; but that is NOT a sign of them going to declare war and straight up decide to send troops if Iran is under attack. Eventually we could see one of them backing Iran up with supplies, but I think it would already be the most extreme situation.
2. It's always possible.. with fantastic amount of "if" statements. At this very moment it's an extremely unlikely scenario.
Iran is quickly losing it's supporters and isolating itself. Will this start a 3rd world war? In one word NO! Wars are fought on the concept of a greater gain vs personal lose, we as a world economy are to interlocked to attempt this. If you destroy the economy of the either U.S, China and the "EURO" you greatly effect the world for many years to come, think of all the 3rd world countries that are dependent on U.S and China food and economic relief.
Lmfao. Russia and China will not throw their hats into the shit storm of a war, for a theocracy. That is just the stuff of pipes there my dear MMO conversationalist. Also I think April is too soon, TOO SOON EXECUTUS! I'm thinking April at the EARLIEST, but most likely they'll squeeze us on the oil for the next couple of months, Saudi Arabia can certainly use the profits at this moment, and Iran's cutting their supply, so Saudi will be soaking that money up. Then by June either Iran will topple, or Israel will bomb their asses if America hasn't by then.
Another thing I think a lot of people forget is how little Iran's youth supports their government which they feel is "dated" and corrupt. I suspect that the support from young Iranians would be relatively high if for the American govt helping them reform their govt.... however; this probably wouldn't be the same case with the Israelites, who will likely be viewed more as Crusaders.
russia have stated if anyone strikes iran it would be an attack on thier interest.
Maneo sums up my thoughts on the matter pretty well, but as for china and russia i feel it will be more complicated considering current events.
Tell them that the Lich King is dead...and the World of Warcraft...died with him.
If something were to happen, everyone would be boned. If another war was started, it would almost certainly result in the destabilization of an already fragile economy. The US and EU would be fucked.
On the plus side, Australia would take a hit... and then be like... totally the richest country in the world. Silver lining?
"Iran vs America." You think war is some kind of game? Have some respect.
1) US economy is in the toilet.
2) Historically, full blown wars, i.e. WWI WWII are great for the economy.
3) Logically, war will fix our economy.
Who's got two thumbs and is awesome? This guy!!!
The "Eastern Coalition" begins to take shape.
I fully welcome this next cold war.
They're not strong enough yet and know they need another decade or so to pull off a takeover of the world economy. I'm not a patriot of the US, but I am for freedom, over a completely fanatic regime bent on world power. The natural state of humans, is freedom; an eastern coalition would only want power over hands, boots and minds.1. Even though USA would most likely backup Israel (probably without direct intervention), I'm not too sure China or Russia would militarily support Iran. That's not in their interest.

Domestic energy and manufacturing is important. Embargo China, let them sit and stew like thay have forever, fuck them, our rich are well rich enough without pumping up a new pointless enemy. They can get their own shit together, if they want to.

China and Russia will not enter a war vs the US any time in the foreseeable future.
These countries my have political disagreements, however they would be committing economic suicide which would grind any war effort to a screeching halt and down grade their statuses as world leaders.
The world has change. Policy in the time of the World Wars was to stay out of international affairs, now days there isn't individual countries economics. The news reports the US, Japan, and EU this and that when it comes to money. But when one goes down, they pull on all the rest. The dollar effects Japan in huge ways. Our spending power is what keeps China going. We have a would economy, to think only inside the countries borders is out dated thinking.
