Nope. It takes a bit more effort, but you can configure a push-to-talk hotkey.

Yes, which is why I use it.

I hate push to talk. When I play, I want to be able to talk freely with people I play with. If I play SC2 or LoL, I don't have time to hold down a button in the middle of a teamfight to command my support to stun them or something. With skype I can just shout it and everyone hears me.

Plus the voice-to-ear delay is far smaller on Skype than any other program I've used (Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Steam, Live Messenger).

And like Steam, I have to deal with people using different names, so I don't know who they are.
And I can't ever leave the chatroom, because if you do, you leave it permanently. So far I have yet to find a way to turn off the noise every time someone says something so I only hear it when I receive a "PM". The best I could do is turn it off except when certain words are pinged, so my name and such.

It sucks.

So... It sucks because... It's not Ventrilo... And it gives you a notice when you get pm'd?...

Problem here is people don't seem to realize what Skype actually is. At it's core, it's a one-to-one real time voice chat program. It's a PHONE over the internet.

Everything else is peripheral. Bagging on Skype's chatroom function is like judging Vent because of it's terribad chat room.

That's a bad excuse. If you offer a service, you can't make it poorly just because it's not your main function. Isn't Wow a PvE game with PvP?

No, because you CAN'T turn off the notice except JUST for PM's. If you could, I'd have no issue with it.

Skype is a program made for the computer to talk to your friends instead of always writing. It is one of the only programs where you have free voice chats (No push-to-talk), and the program is completely free. I can't see anything wrong with it.

You're complaining that your free food is not your favorite food.
