Ah, Sonic. By far my favorite gaming series. I grew up with him in the 90s/early 2000s. Fast, well-designed, platformers with great music and amazing gameplay. My favorite memories as a child was me playing Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Sonic's rivalry with Mario is unheralded. Two great companies, Sega and Nintendo, competing it out, SNES vs. Genesis, dueling it out in one of video game's most epic rivalries. And I loved every minute of it.

Who didn't love running through Green Hill, blasting through Aquatic Ruin, battling in the Death Egg? These memories will never be lost.

So, enough rambling. This is a thread dedicated to all things Sonic, in my opinion one of the greatest gaming icons out there. What, are we approaching his 21st anniversary soon? Man, do the years pass you by. Sonic's almost old enough to drink!

I still can't get enough of Sonic. To this day I still play the old games on the emulators, just because they're so well designed. You're always finding some new hidden path, some fastest route to complete a level, or you're just kicking back and enjoying the amazing music that accompanied him.

What are your opinions on what I think is video game's most iconic character?

Who's your favorite character in the whole series?

What's your favorite level?

Etc, etc, you know. I'd love to hear what you think about Sonic!

And, if anyone's curious, for me it's: Knuckles, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Icecap Zone (S3).

Also, I do think Sonic 06 is one of the worst games ever made. :P

Favorite Character...not really sure...never really thought about it. Probably Dr. Robotnik.

My favorite game is Sonic 3 & Knuckles which i personally refer to as being one game, always saw Sonic&Knuckles as an expansion pack. However the Classic Sonic levels in Sonic Generations really gave the Genesis games a run for their money in my opinion.

My favorite levels are the Classic Sonic version of Crisis City in Sonic Generations, Stardust Speedway in Sonic CD, Death Egg Zone in Sonic&Knuckles and Cosmic Wall in Sonic Adventure 2.


I still lament the fact that Sonic X-Treme was canceled, I pray to Giygas that someone sees the potential to see it revived with the 3D capabilities of the 3DS.


I am fine with Sonic Team making more Modern Sonic titles but I really hope with the success of Generations they decide to make some more Classic era style games, not that the series timeline matters much but more games taking classic with the younger Sonic. For me personally I wish the evolution of the series had resulted in a series of sequels with the same game play as Sonic Generations except minus all of the Modern Sonic levels and more Classic stages.

I thought Modern version of Crisis City was better, but that's just more my opinion. But Death Egg is one of my favorite levels too. :P

And yes, we need more 2D games. Classic style gameplay is much more entertaining than 3D gameplay.

Here about Sonic 4, Episode 2? What are you thoughts on this? I hated Episode 1 so I'm really iffy on it.

Sonic was my favorite, and Green Hill Zone in Sonic 2 was my favorite zone. Back when I was like eight years old I could repeatedly get all the chaos emeralds in The first zone of Sonic 2 without failure. Coming back to the game today amazes me how good I was as a little kid at that game compared to now...

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the first game I ever played, it's definitely my favorite out of all of the games. The fifth and sixth levels of Sonic Advance for the GBA probably take my pick as my favorite levels.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles was definitely the best game. Best zones are Ice Cap from 3, Lava Reef from Sonic and Knuckles, and some of those outer space ones from Sonic Adventure 2.

I'd like to be clear, you don't have to answer the questions if you don't want to. This is just a general discussion about my favorite game series ever.

Am I the only one who didn't like the casino levels at all (minus Carnival Night)?

Anyone really prefer the Modern games over the Classic games?

I think Unleashed was the turning point for the modern games, as 06 in my opinion was horrible. Unleashed was really fun, I don't know why it got ripped to shreds by reviewers, but that's probably because of the poor handling of the Werehog, which was really dumb. Colors I never played, but watched some videos of it and it looks decent. Generations is what I expect of the series in the future. I miss the classic Sonic, Tails, Knuckles gameplay though. I think the modern games absolutely wrecked this (really, who wants to play as Shadow, Rouge, or whatever dumb characters they have?)

I am still hoping that sometime after Episode 2 comes out that Sega decides to make a double pack game with both episodes on it for DS, 3DS or Vita, same with with a MegaMan 9 and 10 double pack and a collection of Konami's Rebirth WiiWare games, I would buy those day one.

Only problem is, episode 1 and 2 are so different they'd probably have to do coding changes to at least one (hopefully 1) to make a double pack possible without a jarring control difference.
