Well, Blizz already tried to revive World PvP quite a few times:

- Tower ruins in EPL
- LOLSand in Silithus
- Halaa etc.
- Wintergrasp
- Tol Barad

Needless to say, a lobotomized snail could've predicted their failure in every case; which raises the question of whether Blizz actually wants World PvP. After all, it wouldn't work on most servers due to massive population imbalances (they'd have to cluster servers) and it would result in a deluge of QQ because it's a much harsher environment than those little sandboxes.

All of those (except for EPL, I don't know about that) were pretty good when it was around the top content. Sand was a HUGE boost to rep farmed, and it still is, there's just no-one farming it anymore.

I played at the end of tbc and I remember I was a Night Elf hunter, two players came over from the opposing faction and started to kill us, then they somehow became friendly to us and then enemy's again I think they were hacking, anyway I remember we all got together and started to kill these two players. We had them pretty low on a couple occasions. Bunch of level 4's pvping haha

Either way, there's nothing stopping the lowbie from either calling for help in or out of his guild (I frequently remember leveling alts and seeing people on general chat asking if there were any opposing faction bothering them) or getting on his own main.

When did the "good ol dayz of world PVP." start? I joined WoW in the Burning Crusade and never came across any, at all.

First starting the game upon reaching level 40 I said "F*%K THIS" I am going to amass a grand army of Alliance members and storm the Hordes main city! I was telling everyone they know to tell their friends, guildies, spread the word, we need to massacre the Hordes main city.

My motives for doing this was nothing but absolute glory. Glory.

I got like 5 real takers. Other than that I got didly squat.
40 levels later reaching level 80 Wrath came out with achievements and sparkle ponies for rewarding the downing of the leaders all I can see in trade was people LFM to down the leaders all day long. For nothing more than an achievement and a pony.

the vast majority of clients i have who have been the victim of pedophila assure me that misery is often exactly what they molesters want and part of the sexual attraction for them.

if i get my lowbie ganked, i'm just gonna hop on my main and camp who ever ganked me until they call friends, and then i'm gonna call friends, and and then we're all gonna have a huge fight. its fun, you get to know a know a ton of people this way, and it builds community. all because some idiot picked on my lowbie.

Ganking the ganker perpetuates the cycle. I won't argue that ganking has the same long lasting emotional trauma on it's victims as pedophilia, but at least pedophiles don't derive pleasure from their victim's misery. In some ways, the psychology of a ganker is far more aberrant.

Well, the difference is that, if you were to send a griefer to a psychiatrist in real life, they generally wouldn't get diagnosed as abnormal, or a danger to society, or whatever. That's because they only exhibit their psychopathic behaviour online. You've heard the excuses. "It's just a game." "If grief play angers you, you don't have a life." etc. That's what they tell themselves, really. I suppose the main reason is anonymity. There's little to no risk of negative feedback and a lack of empathy because the opponent isn't really perceived as a fellow primate.

He specifically stated that he didn't flag himself for PvP and Southshore was (an is) a contested zone on PvP realms. Meaning he already played on a "pussy" PvE server.

I dont agree nor i will disagree with the OP.

After playing Horde on Draenor EU (pve) for 4/5 years and allmost all of the time doing pvp i got massively bored, once a month the opposing faction was trying to kill gorosh, while hundreds of horde where standing in org. Some people reported it through /3 and most of the people where like; so wtf? let them kill gorrosh.

After a while i did the best thing in my wow history: Moving my chars to the Outland EU realm (pvp). A realm where Wpvp is done allmost daily. My guild does Wpvp only and we have like 3/4 events every week.

Sure, buffing guards with nearly 1m health and let them 4 shot people isnt nice, and yes the devs need to change it. But it doesnt stop you to go Wpvp! As TBP isnt the only place! And ofcourse the ports to raids/dungeons and flying doesnt benefit to WPvp.

So i come to the conclusion:

- Wpvp isnt dead at all, its the players who dont want to go Wpvp! (or think its to difficult to set up or so)
- Moving from a PVE to PVP realm is like the thing to do if you want Wpvp
- No Wpvp guild on your realm? Make one!

wrath was pretty awesome for world pvp on my old server shadow council we had really REALLY cocky horde

20 tenacity was freaking BAWES it would take a 40 man raid to take me down and id still merc 70% of them

I haven't really liked World PVP since the days of Blackrock Mountain. I used to head out there with 6-7 people I knew from High Warlord grinding or my Guild and we'd just stand by the exit of the first corridor and the Alliance would come usually 2-3 at a time and we'd slaughter them. But then they'd start getting the rest of their 15man UBRS run or 40man MC or BWL group out there to kill us or make us retreat.

I don't gank lowbies as its not fun because I am not a bully. Nor do I find it fun to really attack people questing or just leveling. I liked world pvp where they had places which you had to go through to raid or do some other activity and you could make a line across that path and ambush those coming down it, but you never really knew what would show up. Max level characters vs Max level characters with unknown variables. I wouldn't know if an Alliance raid was coming all 40 at once or if it was just 3 stragglers showing up late, whatever it was we fought!

But fast travel abilities and flying mounts has done away with that, and I think it was a fair trade off. Now when someone says they want more World PVP all I can think is they want more ganking or an impossible return to the days of riding out from Kargath.


Oh and pvp gear ruined world pvp anyway. World pvp worked in vanilla because raiding gear was great for pvp so when you ambushed some raiders it was a real fight, not now when you have 50% damage reduction and they dont and get slaughtered like level 85s on level 80s.
