Hey guys.

I got a broken tooth and the pain STINGS like a ****

I feel utterly helpless stumbling around my apartment, unable to sleep, found a half empty bottle of tequila a bit ago trying to dull the pain..

But my question to you guys is as following:

What to do? I have no painkillers, its ~7.5 hours till the pharmacy opens nearby.. Turned on a series on my computer that is playing to try and catch my attention for now, and i got my tequila..

Anyone got any good suggestions on how to deal with massive pain?

Yeah seriously BMoG is right, you could do serious nerve damage just letting it sit, emergency room is a good safe choice

Just go to the dentist, they'll give you some antibiotics and if they can't take it out themselves, they'll give you the number of an oral surgeon that can.

Every dentist i've ever had or have even seen has a 24 hour emergency number

I totally came here expecting conversation about Broken Tooth lol.

I chipped off the top of one of my front bottom teeth when I was younger. Was playing on a trampoline, landed on my back, and one of the other kids fell and sat on my face. It hurt like a sun of a gun, and was extremely sensitive for months. My parents made me live with it >.> I didn't get it capped until I enlisted, some 8 or so years after the incident. So I can tell you, you NEED to get that taken care of, stat! If your dentist doesn't have an emergency number, the ER is definitely the best place to go. At worst, they can give you something to numb it.

OT: Infection is a huge possibility and that could be really bad so I'd try a clinic (er sounds overkill for a broken tooth) but if that's all that's "open" you really have no choice.

Go to any possible doctor that you can... tooth infection can lead to very serious problems and even brain damage.

Dont drink any alcohol,
Wash mouth out with luke warm water (spit it out afterwards) every 30 mins or so, Get yourself to the hospital now.
they will give you antibiotics, and proberbly some painkillers at the very least to last you till you get to a dentist.
again DO NOT drink any alcohol in case they need to put you under a general anaesthetic to remove the root or do any major work.

It's really not that big of a deal, I've had a broken tooth for about a year. I've had a filling fall out and been dealing with that for over 3 years. The dentist told me my tooth was infected, i went after about 6 months, and gave me antibiotics. The tooth has gotten a little bit worse, I can't really chew on that side of my mouth, but I need to spend like 400-500 to get each tooth removed, unless I can find a cheaper place.
You're all overreacting, sound like you've never had dental problems you couldn't pay for immediately. Sometimes you gotta deal with it, because it's THAT expensive and you don't have insurance.

Was actually thinking of going to Mexico. It's just down teh street anyway (I'm from Texas)
But Mexico is a very dangerous place at the moment, to the point that they advise us to stay away even during Spring Break.
So I'll just wait for a while

After the infection was taken care of, it stopped hurting all the time, it was awesome. But the OS I was told about would have cost me 500 to get one tooth removed, and screw that mess. I have 2 that need to be pulled, not just one. If it's 500, I'll take care of it myself.

even if your hospital doesn't have a dentist, there will be staff on hand that know enough to temporarily treat the broken tooth.
and at least provide better pain killers than tequila

I'm sure it is a painful thing, I am surprised of all the people saying "Don't drink the Tequilla" Well, yes don't drink it, but infection is hardly a problem when you have a 5th of Tequila with you, Just swish/soak with it ffs... geeze...
