Why skimp on the SSD? Do you have an actual need for an Extended ATX mobo?

Unless you are rendering video all day, get the 2500k.

my computer is an i5 2500k and a radeon hd6870 with 8gb of ram and I play battlefield 3 on medium without any fps lagg (nothing under ~35 ever) and due to battlefield being the most demanding game on computers at the moment, so I would say that I can't imagine you ever feeling lagg on any current game on ultra settings.

    1) are you using this only for gaming? if yes drop the i7 for a i5-2500k. has the same performance on games and you can shave 100$ from the total
    2) do you really need Blu-ray? if no just buy a DVD recorder for 15$
    3) do you have an old computer that you can salvage the HDD? hard drives are still a bit expensive due to the tsunami or whatever in japan, if you can use an old HDD you can wait 2/3 months and buy that same HDD for like half that price

    Cant think of anything else

You're looking at making a serious overkill machine if you just want to game. A $500 video card and 16Gb of memory is not something people put to question.

Also, unless you need this box now you may want to wait on the ivy bridge tech to come out. (Not sure on the timeframe, but ive been hearing enough about it to assume it is sooner rather than later)

Yeah I won't be buying the builds yet because I still got to save money. So I imagine throughout the process of saving I will probably be doing some upgrades and such in my build design plan.

As others have said if its for gaming, just get an i5-2500k to save yourself £100, spend it on a bigger SSD! That GPU is gonna shit all over everything. You planning on playing WoW or stuff like BF3, metro 2033? I'm also presuming you have a full HD monitor?
