You rule a country and can only have one- army, air force or navy

As the poll says. You rule a country and can only have one - Army, Navy or Air Force.
    Which one do you pick?

    Rules:
*All combat situations within your lifetime as the ruler only involve earthly enemies only.

*Whatever option you pick will be the most advanced in the world. Your chosen option will be approx 10 years ahead of everyone else in the world since you funnel all your country;s funds into one option only.

*Assume anyone attacking you possess same nuclear, biological and chemical weapon abilities.

*As in real world missiles can be inducted into any wing of defence and hence you have the best missiles catering to your choice.

    * To be fair geographically, your country is surrounded by ocean on two sides and land on the other two sides.

    Is it a landlocked nation?

If you are throwing nukes around I don't think it really matters, but having a navy or air force without a ground army would be pointless.

You can still think as a ruler and pick what is best for your county.

Airforce I guess, I figure it's the best way to stop a potential invasion of my country before they hit our shores. Just sink/shoot down/destroy the enemies means of transportation.
The nerve is called the "nerve of awareness". You cant dissect it. Its a current that runs up the center of your spine. I dont know if any of you have sat down, crossed your legs, smoked DMT, and watch what happens... but what happens to me is this big thing goes RRRRRRRRRAAAAAWWW! up my spine and flashes in my brain... well apparently thats whats going to happen if I do this stuff...

I pick an army with a fully sized air corps. You know, like the US Army before 1947 or the British Army before 1918.

If it were an island nation, I'd have gone with a navy with multi-division marine corps and a strong aircraft carrier core.

Air is the only sane option. A pure ground army is just made of fail, and will get wiped by either air or navy. Pure navy is just way too limited, because, well, it's navy. Air forces on the other hand can pew any 3 away, especially if my air force is supposedly 10 years ahead of others.

Army - from a defensive point there will always an advantage with troops on the ground. Look at frigging Vietnam - the US had both Air and navy supremacy but was unable to win that war...

An air force. I was in the Marines and we make a big deal about being the shit, well I mean it's true, we are. But the reason major powers like the US are nigh unchallengeable is because of our Air Force. It's hard to fight against a military that can go anywhere, destroy anything, and be out of your reach unless you have, A: highly sophisticated anti air capabilities, B: your own air power, C: the ability to hide in caves. And that last one works, but won't be winning you any wars.

It's a concept that's explored in the Mass Effect games. All infantry forces in the future are a part of the Navy (aka the air force in space), because of the necessity of support for all ground forces as technology advances. What's the point in occupying one planet if the surrounding space isn't yours as well? You won't be going anywhere anytime soon, that's for sure. Works right now as well. Ground forces have ALWAYS been important for invading, occupying, and policing the enemy. As technology advances to scarier levels (seen the latest rail gun tests?), that fact is slowly changing.

You cant be effective without 1 or the other, the evolution of warfare has made it impossible. BTW a 10 year advance isn't always a game breaker. Take the british in the 1860s the Zulus' had Spears and Shields weapons that were centuries behind rifles. Yet they put up a damned good fight. Also I think in North Korea when the Chinease attacked there was a regiment there the Glosters, I think they run out of bullets. Was a bit like Starcraft and the Zerg.

If its Nuclear/Bilogical then I want to have the best Diplomatic people available, and a nice big stockpile of Nukes to scare the shit out of them. Also living on an island I would want an Airforce. The navy safguarded our old Empire, the Air force saved us from Nazi tyrrany. Tho you still need the other aspects.

Where's the Marines? They cover all bases.

Airforce alone isn't enough to defend, nor is just a ground force or a navy.

Now combine the navy and air force, then we have a proper modern navy and combine them all, we have marines.

This is why you lost TWO Deathstars OP.

    TWO

I had a well thought out response, but the loss of two deathstars does negate any attempts for recourse you migh thave.

    Well played.

No planes without an airforce, /reroll.

I would choose the airforce, mainly because they are the best means to distribute biological/nuclear weapons.

Of course even though I couldn't officially have any ground troops you can bet your ass that self defense combat training would be a required course before graduating high-school thus the people of my nation would have the defensive capabilities to fight off oncoming attackers.

    No.

    Suck it up and reroll.

Earliest video of naval "air power" I could find:
